Hi all,
I’ve just purchased my first car an '96 GTO SR which still has the original Japanese radio (is this common find this late on?)
Also any GTO specific maintenance tips for someone just starting out?

Welcome to the club :+1:

Looks like a nice motor - and yes even now a good number have the original stereo.

Regarding maintenance they are the same as any other car - fluids including gearbox, T-case, brake and clutch etc…

Also definitely do the timing belt if there is no record of this being done in the past 5 years/ 60k or so.

Thanks for the tips, the car only has about 71k miles on the clock and the timing belt looks fairly recent … but I’ll have a mechanic check it over just in case!

Welcome to the Club, there’s a huge amount of knowledge on here, but take it steady, read, read, read, and don’t be sucked in to buying loads of parts before you’ve set out your plan
