Rac

Been with RAC for a year now and found the service good on the times I have had to use it this year (dead battery - left lights on while at work, burst clutch pipe and first call out for dodgy alternatory wire)

I’m curious to know what people are paying for what level with the RAC - I just have roadside - limits recovery distance to 10 miles. I want an unlimited recovery really - just in case I need an unplanned trip to Cornwall or Pitlochry!

Any advice from people is welcome!

Hi Andy,

Anything for you

I got 1 year’s worth of RAC cover solution 4 : roadside, recovery at home & onward travel. Renewal £161  I had to use it a couple times, but not for the GTO… I think I’ll be shopping around a bit too…

Cheers
Ewan

 More worried I’ll leave the lights on again!

I think the solution 2 or 3 would be best looking at the brochure - not to worried about the Onward Travel bit. I’ll phone up and see what they can do for me in the morning.

Does anyone have any No Callout Discount with the GTO?

some bank accounts offer free services with rac and AA

we are covered fully by the AA through our bank account including relay here and in Europe.

Angel

good point angel

Also many brokers offer very cheap deals on breakdown if you’re insured with them.

Know a lot of people are insured through sky, might be worth asking what their charges are

I know my BD includes roadside assistance, roadside relay, homestart, overnight accomodation etc etc
Cars <10yrs old £32 per year
Cars >10yrs old £37 per year

Remeber though that these deals are for the car, and not the person, unlike the RAC or the AA

Trust me nothing is free, especially with banks, they may say it is

Julian.

do a search on ‘national breakdown cover’, I did this one last week and got some great tips and advice on here.

here was my final reply…

Ok peoples

I am now officially covered. After several checks I managed to get what I think to be a right result. I ended up going with Green Flag.

Cost ?? Well for BOTH my Gto TT AND the missus 2.2 Type-R it was £136 for max cover for 2 cars. Everything you can have except euro cover (mostly cos I cant be arsed to drive there )

Thanks for all the advice given guys, Hopefully i wont need it next week after a few runs up Santa Pod on sunday .

Sorry but i dont know how to link to the topic for you

Cheers
