Anyone know how long roughly it takes to remove the engine? Do you take the gearbox out attached too?
It’s easier to lift it out in one go yes , if your ok with the spanners , a slack day will see it all disconnected and out , I left the aircon pump and power steering pump resting on the chassis legs , that way you don’t need to refill those circuits
Once it’s out then split the gearbox

so far its taken me over 2 years, and is still not out
Yeah take it all out its much easier, it doesn’t take too long, it takes longer to remove all the intercooler pipes etc out of the way. When you lift it, push down on the gearbox at the end to give you a slight angle to get it out. Make sure you have undone all the engine mounts, dont forget there is one at the back.
Cheers,
Neil.
And that back mount is the mother of all things unholy!
I never found the back one too bad to be honest , just removing the centre pin is a bit fiddly but ok , that said anything I do on cars now takes a day lying down or resting nowadays as my knees are wrecked and my back doesn’t like me much either after messing

Took mine out in 3 hours and 10 minutes recently !!!
But i have taken it out a million times …
I just paid Mitsubishi £530 to take mine out. It took them about 6 hours. They took the gearbox and engine out in one go and then split them afterwards.
