got my insurance renewal today £255 well pleased
on a classic car policy with footman james
so should get to japs this year
i really wasn’t going to renew this year if it had been as high as last year
Do you have commuting on your policy ?
I just got my renewal through for footman james again, and it’s the same price as last year, but they removed commuting, which annoys me as i do drive it to work sometimes.
i dont think it does

I’m surprised you had it before. It’s rare to get commuting use on a classic car policy.
I’m surprised Sky insurance wanted £ 500, more for the same product…
£500 is a huge difference of course but are you comparing apples with apples? Eg, we would provide cover for you to drive to work…
You did last 2 year. I’ve got the exact same product now, including commuting for just over £ 400, whilst Sky wanted £ 950,
I think this whole ■■■■■■ insurance business i a big rip off.
Normally i ring around, but yesterday i decided to use those 3 big websites from the tv commericials, which are confused.com, gocompare, and compare the meerkat.
I filled in the exact same details on all sites, and the difference in prices, even from the same companies were several 100 pounds. How is that fair ??

Not for my GTO, but my other proper classic car, I got insured with Peter James (who apparently used to own Footman James before selling to AON?). They state “occasional commuting” whatever that means! Good enough for me.

I’m not saying it is fair. We are a broker, we offer the best rate available to us. We insure a fair few GTOUK members and we are the most competitive for a lot of them, some pay a little extra based on the service we offer.
If I run my engine swapped Mr2 through a price comparison site I get quotes of over £10,000, that isn’t fair either but I do not dwell on it.
The last time I phoned Footman James they would not even insure my car
Neil.

Ditto, anything with mods seems to be a problem with them, are you sure you have given them the right info karim?
They were happy with the mods, but not on a like for like base, and also no agreed value, just market value.
Ok, so not exactly the same as ours then. Huge price difference though, I’ll be the first to admit that.
Thanks

No, you quoted me £ 950, for the exact product other companies wanted 400 - 500 for.
In the end i went with Footman James who was even cheaper then all of those, and that was for another product (limited miles etc) but whilst getting my inital quotes, for the same product, Sky was defenately a rip off.
