After selling my beloved GTO and missing her so much I brought her back she is in need of help, after driving her for a year since getting her back she started making a horrible noise & today I have been told some rod has gone in the bottom of her engine, I either have to get it reconditioned or source a good second hand one so please any advice would be very welcome as none of the mechanics round here will touch her, sorry I can’t be of any more help if it was a horse I would know the correct name for the part that has gone
Sorry to hear that , where abouts are you in the country ?
From the description it sounds like one of your con rods has come through the block aka shook a leg out .
A second hand engine would be the easiest fix to get you up and running again , problem will be finding a good used engine .
Changing the engines in these isn’t that bad so if a garage won’t do it I would avoid them in the future .
Eurospec in Guildford are the tried and trusted garage to work on these motors , many won’t go any where else now

Craig
Thank you Craig for your advice, I am in Wiltshire 10 mins from Castle Combe race track , looks like I’m going to be engine hunting from Trisha

Hey welcome back to the club.
Nothing to do with TJ Danes are you?
Thank you Butler, sorry don’t know TJ Danes the only Danes I know are my 3 Great Danes do they live in Wiltshire ??
Tj used to be a member here who ran a Great Dane rescue. Saw your user name and wonder if you knew him. Never mind
Oh and your bound to get people asking to see the dogs now
Aww what are their names ?

Hi,
Am just beginning to notice there are quite a lot of members in Wiltshire probably about 10! It’s a small gto world!
James
Wow I would love to meet a few as I don’t know anyone else near me with one & it doesn’t help when something goes wrong & no one will help as they say " that’s a specialist job " & being more at home with horses instead of horsepower it’s a bit of a problem
Hi @Greatdane1, I am in the process of organizing a meet in the Cotswold’s at the end of June.
You are obviously more than welcome to come along, have a laugh, chew the fat and discuss car issues.
You certainly aren’t alone in Wiltshire and the surrounding area.
Not sure if my girl will be back on the road by then but if she is I will come along
As I live near the Cotswolds I will be going, even if my car isn’t finished by then, so don’t worry about that @Greatdane1.
