Ridiculous Footman James Quote

1997 GTO TT
31 years old
13 years NCB
Garaged
No points or convictions
1500 miles annually

£2700!!

Its been a while since i saw a decent quote from them on here. Is anyone on here still getting a good deal from them?

I just got a renewal quote from Footman James for my GTO as a Classic car and it was £421 with 3000 miles per year.

Changed it to a Daily Driver through A-Plan.

Try A-Plan, they have given me great deals on all my cars.

The Mitsubishi is coming out at £550 a year as a Daily Driver with a 5000 miles a year limit. And that was just done Yesterday.

Well I had initially asked for a classic car policy but with Footman James they say the car must be over 20 years old, so could only offer a modern car policy!

Ive since got a quote from SKY for £400 so that looks promising

Dont know how you get away with a daily drive deal @ 5000 a year as that gives you around 13.5 miles a day average  I live 4 miles from where i work & don’t have to go there every day & still do around 8000 a year, I would be careful as they can & do sometimes check.

Julian.

32 5k a year, key protection etc 330 through just kampers ( have a t5) they price matched green light ( compete with sky on focusstoc.com). Green light are very good only reasoni didn’tuse them was to save the hassle of sending bits off as my van is with just kampers. Give them a ring usually really competitive

Yeah, sorry. I have 6 months left on the policy so can do 5000 in that time. Swapped it from the prelude.

After praising the (economic) virtues of Footman James for the last couple of years or so, I can confirm that I won’t be renewing with them. They’ve quoted me a higher premium this year despite the fact that 1. I now live in a far less congested area; and 2. my car is now parked in a garage or car port in front of it, and finally they are taking the mick trying to charge me £434 on a Classic Policy, limited to an annual mileage of 1500.
I don’t think they care anymore, so it’s bye bye to them.

Mike

Yet to do mine but hoping classic is the way to go. My supra cost £200 last year with mods declared running over 300 bhp. Mine being a 94 just about qualified for 20 years old.
I do have a spare ncb with 10 years on it if not.

Try Matthew at A-Plan thatcham branch.
He done me a cracking deal

Footman was also ridiculous for me

Footman James would not insure me at all, try Aplan or Adrian flux.

Neil.

Footman James would not insure me again tried today, I did not get anywhere due to the modifications :frowning:

Neil.

Renewd mine with footman james £300 a year its gone up a bit as i added me brakes onto the mods

Increased premium because you can stop better? Bit of a joke.

Probably use the excuse of higher probability of a rear end shunt to raise the premium
insurance is just legalized gambling and 9 times out of 10 the insurance companies win

Renewed minevwith A-Plan Thatcham for the 3rd year on the trot, cheaper than anyone I’ve found and premium has been going down every year I’ve been with them!

I managed to get mine for £170 off footman james …huge difference to the £800 quoted from adrian flux!
Do speeding points affect your insurance price much? I got a letter for speeding in my astra last week…hope it doesn’t hike my insurance up next year!

I have points and it didnt make a much difference from mine, but I think it does effect things if you get more.

Cheers,
Neil.

First 3 points are ignored by most insurance companies for speeding

I insured my uk twin turbo with footman james for £143.56 a year. Insured as a classic including commuting to a single place of work and including European breakdown cover. I am only 25 so am amazed by that! although I have 8 years no claims and 0 points.
