Hi Jim you still in the Uk
we must get another le manns or simular arranged

Hi Simon, yep still here⌠how 'bout The Ring next?
Really enjoyed meeting you all and spending the day with such a fine array of GTOs (and variants ). Can everyone please post their info for reference? My uncorrected peaks at the wheels were 306.6 bhp @ 6189 RPM / 87.3 MPH and 306.5 lb-ft @ 3841 RPM / 54.4 MPH. The MPH values seem off, so Iâm not putting much faith in the RPM values. The parasitic loss for my car was measured as 112 bhp (or 30%) during http://www.the-matthews.com/dyno.html, so adjusting my wheel measurements accordingly works out to 418 bhp (or 438 bhp using the percentage) at the flywheel. I posted http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=412529 about the AFR discrepancy (the dyno operator interpreted the tailpipe sniffer WB02 values as being very lean despite logged NB02 values being very rich).
Iâm not convinced that corrected values make sense for forced induction engines (see http://www.sdsefi.com/techdyno.htm, for example), but FWIW, here is my corrected trace:
Signatures change, so Iâll put my current mods in the post itself:

Thanks, Julian, for organizing the event!
Jim,
CVR4 have said similar to me when i posted my readouts, their correction factor seems waaaaay out.
Not sure my printouts will be of use to you guys comparing the GTO engines
Mike
What a brilliant day & thanks for the great turnout, some surprise readings & some disappointments but thatâs to be expected on a day like this, day finished off with a simulated 1/4 run in their MX5, Dead heat at the end between Steve Lawtey & Mike ( miller ) so they had to have a sudden death shootout that Steve emerged triumphant, ( Well done Steve ) Once again thanks to everyone who turned up & made this such a great day.
Julian.

they are using some wcf (weather correction factor) in the dyno, my bhp on there graph is 383, without the wcf it is 404! they said it calculates the air density, humidity and air temp, to give a true bhp figure!
i dynoâd it in november last yr at engine advantages at 410 bhp, now at 404 bhp, so i rekon itâs pretty accurate, even if there calclations are a bit off!!!
thankks for another great day julian, nice to meet some of the old members again and great to meet some new faces!
had a interesting drive home though!
paul
i really enjoyed it today thanks for organising this Julian,
hereâs a vid of my run ,i got a peak of 224bhp@6148rpm/102mph at wheels
with 287 bhp at the flywheel and a maximum torque of 224.4@4657rpm/78mph ,im very happy with these results as it shows a vast improvement since i got the car just by looking after her properly
although on the way home i didnt get very far before the bleeding dump valve blow off the Y-pipe and dumped me unceremoniously at the side of the duel carriage way
Again as everybody is saying such a great day and shows how good the club is and also Julian for organising such a good event. Nice to meet old and new friends no matter what the weather threw at us?
Heres to the next one
Martin
Another cracking day out!
Thanks to Julian for organsing this and also for the endless supply of Diet Coke and crisps:D
Iâm toatlly overwhelemed by the results my car came up withâŚ
340 bhp @the flywheel!!! 8) :D, Will do me very well thanks.
nice to put some more faces to names! Hereâs to the next one.
Yeah great day. Nice to see a few different faces and the same old ones Shame we had to duck out early, but had to find a tyre place that was open in Scunthorpe to remove the HUGE nail that was spotted in the rear tyre whilst on the dyno. Goot job it wasnât spat out at someone!
The porker showed 334BHP and the power curve was still climbing at the redline
Ian F.
The dyno operator estimated 28% drivetrain loss at peak power but applied the factor incorrectly when calculating the flywheel horsepower figures he typed into the Comments section (the Maximum Power and with WCF figures are at the wheels). For the AWD cars, he added 28% to the wheel horsepower figure rather than subtracting 28% from the flywheel horsepower. If the drivetrain consumes 28% of the power produced by the engine, then 72% of the power reaches the wheels.
wheel horsepower = flywheel horsepower * 72%
flywheel horsepower = wheel horsepower / 72%
So:
315 wheel / 72% = 438 flywheel
got a peak of 224bhp@6148rpm/102mph at wheels
with 287 bhp at the flywheel
224 wheel / 72% = 311 flywheel
265 wheel / 72% = 369 flywheel
I donât know what correction was used for your RWD car, but it wonât make as much difference in your case since the parasitic losses are much lower.
There are two ways I can think of to validate dyno flywheel estimates: http://www.stealth316.com/2-calc-hp-et-mph.htm and http://www.stealth316.com/2-air-fuel-flow.htm. Both work out about right for my car (112 mph traps and 90% IDC on 450cc injectors each indicate approximately 425 flywheel horsepower).
Jim,
They didnt give my wheel figures i dont think. They have now totally confused me with this. What do you reckon this should read?

I need to spend some quality time with my car and find out whatâs upsetting it. However, on the upside it means Iâm missing out on ~50bhp which Iâm hoping I can regain by replacing some suspect components (ticking boost control solenoid and clicking fuel relay.)

I knew I probably wouldnât have given that M3 much to worry about given my poor showing on the dyno, were you pushing him along or was it fairly even? It seemed to go quite well that M3. I thought Robbie might have had a play too with his 340bhp

Iâm hoping they havenât got me chasing ghosts with such a low power readout from my own car. It car seems quick to me, and I know for definate that it pulls away from a stock 280bhp Skyline GTS-T and is just a tiny bit slower than a 230 wheel horsepower RX7.
Going on multiplying your wheel figures by .72, that works out at a 340bhp Legnum. :?

which its definitley not! They have put some calcs in and not given me my wheel figures which im trying to decipher from that graph. Engine torque and Engine PowerâŚis all the graph shows.
Can some one else look at their graph and try and see where my wheel horsepower is worked out?
Cheers
Mike

yes it did go well! i was pushing him all the way, although he did pull away a little when i selected wrong gear! i didnât think the m3âs were that fast! he did have a different zorst on so dunno what else he got! fair play tho
i too was dissapointed with robbie! there is still time to teach him the error of his ways!!

MY car is still limited to japanese rules and the engine is 17 years old! When I get it running right Iâll be all for having a play!
