Hi I’ve set the meet for Glamis Castle, as it’s quite central between Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh & Glasgow. I’ve never been there before, but there should be enough space for us and we can have a look round (if need be) and have lunch or go for a drive and have lunch…
Hello! I recently joined the club and glad to see that Scotland is represented! Looking forward to the Glamis Castle Meet, it’s a great venue, I have been to a couple of classic car shows there in the past. I have two GTO’s a black manual twin turbo MK1 and a red manual twin turbo MK2. I’ve got a problem with the red one ie., I need a replacement oil cooler/pipes, do you have any contacts or info?I would be grateful if you could help, Cheers! Stewart
Will be good to have you along. Where about in Scotland are you?
You have a few options with oil cooler lines. You can get new ones from Evil Empire Performance or Mitsubishi, you can get some custom made from a hydraulics company or you can upgrade your oil cooler from the likes of Amber performance. I believe that Sitech have also replaced these, but not sure what they did.
Hello again Ewan, thanks for your reply. I am in Rosehearty, a small village near Fraserburgh, thanks for the information on the oil coolers, hope I can get it fixed before the meet as we ( my wife and I) would like to come down in that one. Thanks again, Stewart.
I was going to surprise you & turn up as we will be staying at the foot of Ben Nevis from the 14th August but on checking we move down to the Yorkshire Dales on the 22nd Would have been in the Passat as opposed to the GTO but a meet is a meet
Hi Stewart, I’ve used Dingbro in Aberdeen for stuff like the hydraulic hoses. Well if was for a temporary fuel hose, but they cut and swaged everything I needed…
Would love to be there but i’ve got a wedding to attend on 20th.
If i could avoid it i would…
Also needing new front breaks, still shopping around for them.
Seen some crazy prices!!!
Hope it all goes well.[/quote]
Hi,
Shame you can’t attend. I think front breaks can be obtained from motorfactors and mitsubishi. A lot of people actually upgrade to DBA discs, which can be obtained from evil empire. I would say that the car is best used rather than unused. I’ve just had to skim my set of DBA’s as they got too rusty…
Sitech replaced the oil cooler lines on my MK1 for the previous owner. Don’t know 100% what was done, but I’m now needing a new oil cooler and Simon has confirmed that a straight replacement will work - eg. no odd connectors/botching/etc.
I’m hoping to make it along to the meet - but def want to get the oil cooler sorted before hand. I’m just back from 3 weeks hols, so it sort of depends on what time I can get away from work before then to get the car back to Sitech.
Cheers,
B

you can get good priced standard brake discs and pads from camskill.thats where i got mine last year just over 100 quid for rear discs
bryan i changed my cooler myself and got new hoses made up at pirtek for around 70 quid.ill be popping into sitech over my weeks holiday next week aswell, for my usual cup of coffee
But…Beloved Mk1 laid up - MAP sensor in Autronic SM4 is U/S (apparently they never go wrong )…Car was fine 'till I messed with it. My standard Mk2 needs an oil change and the ECS is wonky - sport mode flashing and suspension has defaulted hard… Maybe someone knows how to hook into the diagnostics in a 1997 Mk2 because I don’t!!
Coming down from Aberdeen
PS My Amber perf oil cooler was a big disappointment. Oil temp has been running high ever since I replaced my stock coolers.

Hi Andy,
Will be good to drive down with you… My ECS has just done a similar thing to yours… I’ve got a set of tein’s in the for sale section if your interested. My Amber performance oil coolers fine… I don’t understand that…
I’ve just been to Glamis for a look about as I was taking it as a recommendation from the previous post. There will be a small admission charge to even get to the car park, but it looks like it’s worth it. The Castle and grounds look lovely and the speed bumps are very small and few between.
