Guys,
The next fixed meeting I have in my diary is 19th August at The Chatelherault Classic Car show…Im sure we migh offend a small gathering of beard stroking old men and tea drinking ladies but what the hell!
We haven’t managed to get together for a while so I wondered if anybody wants to try for a Sunday between now and then or are we all suitably busy to leave it until the 19th?
Im still hopeing we can do a Skye tour this year, but time is marching on and I am likely to be away in Kazakhstan for the whole of September… Would October be an okay month still…or…a winter tour would be another nice event and less mozzies!!!
mark, you might be suprised with the turnout and range of cars at this show last year was amazing ,classics to custom, modified ect.
i think the cars need to be in for 9 -9.30 and set up before the show starts. last year we were there at about 9am and got a good pitch as there were loads of car clubs just behind us squeezing in the area.modern cars in one feild and the classics in another.
a winter runout would be great, probably the weather would be better aswell
Actually Scot I see what you mean, I had quick look at the various club blogs and yes there are some good turnouts from MR2’s, Mustangs etc…so should be good
9am start!!! Balls…hence your offer of floor space…maybe a good idea if your wife can put up with a few of us there…
I’ll see what the other guys think later on and perhaps we could get down saturday night and all go in on Sunday…
Remember we have a nice big GTOUK Gazebo now to set up…thats about 3 x 9 m…it just fits in the back of the GTO seats down!!!
I should be able to make a meet sometime soon. Was talking to Russ today and the cars close to being finished although by what he was aying I might need a week to polish the engine bay after I drive it up the road.
 8)

Glad to see your happy Ally!
Mark, just give me a shout whenever you fancy a meet. We could even have a mini meet in Aberdeen??? I might need a bit of notice as I might be driving a tractor in my spare time 8) (just to help my dad out when he’s busy)
I’m still tempted to dyno my car, if we don’t do it as a club meet, I will go sometime in the Autumn. I know most guy’s have been on the rollers already…
anytime from the 11th august is good for me to go anywhere , i should have most things done by then, ie:timing belt ,idler pulley ,tensioner pulley ,hydraulic tensioner and water pump all changed , and another engine in my shed waiting on a strip down and rebuild.
where are we meeting on the 19th, before we go into the show or inside.
Looks like there are not takers Mark
I think I’ll go to Turriff show instead
I’m still up for RR day / Crail sometime in the future though… And the 19th in Hamilton of course.
I was talking to Euan and the Subaru guy’s are going for a Skye trip too… Sometime in September I think…
Just scratched the car on the garage door, doh!
Ummm - sure you were in the GTO and not the allroad? I can understand the Starlet - those things are nippy and pretty much match us until past a ton then fall off. But two corsa’s and a golf?!
Bit of a hangover…my wife promised to bring all the tools and crap in the other car just in case and didnt make it out of bed.
Second run of the day I thought I either broke a driveshaft or transfer box, then realised I had a huge black cloud behind me…suspected a turbo…then realised it was the small hose on the back of the Y pipe that had blown apart, not off!!!
The drift boys helped me out and in all I did 12 runs…best time I could manage was 14.025 I think…3rd gear was a problem, so 2-3rd gear took a lot of effort, time and crunching!
Also realised that throughout the day my idle adjustment screw had been vibrating free, it eventually fell out on the drive home, engine wouldnt idle at all at lights…found the hole and plugged it for now!!!
I really went for each run but there were some quick things there…that Starlet was running a huge turbo and high boost, the Golf had a 20V audi 1.8 T engine with a big FMIC and fully stripped out…the Corsa did surprise me, badged a 1.2 but he had that well sorted!!!
Actually I just realised that I did beat my first attempt back in April…I did a 14.093 then, with my skinny 11 year old daughter in the car…this time I had my slightly larger 15 year old son, with heavy shoes, lots of loose change in his pockets, a bag of clothes and an X Box 360 in the boot, a gallon of Silkolene and a Saltire!
So all things considered, I reckon I could be nudging Benh pretty soon if I loose that crap, and lose weight and drive naked!!!
Fastest time for me then is 14.025…that still makes Ewan the fastest on the 1/4 so far…but its only us two that have risked our transmissions…I have a feeling that GTO Ally is likely to blow us both away soon!!!
i’ll give it a go mate once i fit my ek2 downpipe+pre-cat ,de-cat and bleed valve need to get the gear box or clutch fixed aswell.going in tommorow to get parts fitted, except the bleed valve(andy is going to log the car while i fit it )
cars still fast though, was up the arse of a mazda 6 mps on sat. and i missed 3rd gear.
i finally got round to fitting the timing belt ,water pump ,hydraulic tensioner ,idler pulley , tensioner pulley also changed oil and filter fitted home made demister vents dumped the oil in the back diff, gearbox and trans and refilled them with good clean stuff also new thermostat and refill with good clean antifreeze, in all it took me 9 hours on saturday , it could have been less if i had little hands to get some of the bolts out that were in weird places.
if its dry this weekend i should get rocker cover , plenum and hard pipes all changed for nice plasti coat ones.
so i should be ready for the 19th…
[quote]done well there john think youll have a que at the door to do the timing belt change  9 hrs was good for all that.
