Selling my GTO - N50NHC

I’ve decided to sell my GTO. Its a 1996 Auto SR in (Galaxy Pearl White) W75a with approx. 133k km on the clock. MOT until 17/03/25.

I’ve decided to list it here first as I’d personally prefer it if it went to a member as I know it will be taken care of and not wrapped around a tree.

Mechanically is pretty sound, but the paint work needs a bit of TLC as its started to crack on the front and rear bumpers. - It just did a 2.5k km round trip from Ireland and back without a single issue.

Its currently on the OEM 18inch chrome wheels which could use a refurb as the chrome is starting to peel in some areas and a full set of brand new Toyo Proxes sport II which were fitted earlier this year.

Full service was done in 2021 and the Cambelt and water pump was done in 2022. Both @ 118k KM

I’ve done engine and transmission oil changes on an annual basis since I’ve owned the car

The car has been welded and undersealed to help prevent any future corrosion to the chassis

I’ve also replaced the weatherstrips with Genuine Mitsubishi ones supplied from a dealer in the USA.

Invoice copies for services and parts ordered while in my ownership are available.

My asking price is £5000 ono, as that seems to be the going rate for NAs these days.

That’s a lovely example Tom, and so too is the backdrop!
Well done for all the work you’ve put into the car, and good luck with the sale.
Best wishes,
Mike

Thanks Mike,
It is very much a reluctent sale as I now need a car for work and definitely cant use my GTO as a commuter (Thank you ULEZ) but dont have the space for 2nd car.

I know once I’m in the position to own two cars I will definitely be looking to get another GTO for sure.

Just an update, the car has now sold.

I’ve sold it to a guy from Essex and I believe he plans on doing a road trip to the Nürburg ring with it.
Also made sure to heavily recommend joining the forum - you guys have been amazing with helping me get on with doing up and maintaining this car over the years and I will miss doing the club meets at Japshow.

Here is the last picture I took of the car parked side by side with it’s successor.

I am very sad that I’ve sold my GTO especially with all of the hard work done to it and the adventures we’ve been on so I know I will certainly be getting another one when the time is right but unfortunately that time is not now.

Let me know how you get on with the 86,

am very tempted to grab one for a daily once my current kicks the bucket.

I’ve had the 86 for just over a month and done about 1.2k miles - I’ve enjoyed it a fair bit.
Fuel economy is miles better - 22mpg avg. for the GTO vs 33mpg for the 86.
It certainly feels faster then my gto since it was an NA auto but I think the power to weight ratios are the about the same for the NA GTOs and 86s.
I can’t speak on TTs as I’ve never had the pleasure of driving one but they would still be faster I reckon.

Probably the hardest thing for me to get used to the percived lack of visibility (although this is probably not an issue if you drive anything made in the last 15 years regularly - the GTO was my first and only car since learning to drive) the 86 feels like it has a lot more blind spots then the GTO (despite being quite a bit smaller) but thats due to the GTO having very small A and C pillars. You do get used to it fairly quickly.

Only real ‘‘issue’’ I have is the gearing for 20mph - the car does not like 20mph zones - it either sounds ‘‘unhappy’’ in 2nd gear @ 2500ish rpm or it can sound a bit boggy when in 3rd if the car drops to below 1700ish rpm. Throw in speed bumps, hills and everything else that accompanies 20mph residental roads and you’ll find yourself constantly shifting from 2-3-2-3 all to keep your speed at 20mph, but if you’re lucky enough to live in a area with few 20mph zones you wont have this issue.

Other than that its been a fairly easy adjustment.
