what ever i do open save or search i still cannot get into the forum index, tried every method,or shortcut cache is empty.I hve very limited access to the pc im using to type this…so alittle help would be cool…failing that i will be limited to log in to perhaps once a week which is no good to me…getting ever so slightly narked now

also tried the chatroom get error 402 :?

Vikky have you tried to clear your cookies and history yet?

If not go into Tools (at top of internet explorer), then Internet Options, Click delete cookies and click delete files and check delete all offline content and then click Clear History. This will clear most of your internet files and saved pages.

You will need to log back into any and all automatic password sites that use cookies but it might help. After that lot try to enter the site via the home page www.gtouk.org.uk

Don’t do this until someone else has confirmed this is safe. I use these options sometimes and it normally works for me.

yep…did all that…just had a man out who does pc’s,he says the problem isnt my pc…which really helps

Which Internet Service Provider do you use Vikky. It could be their cache being a bit slow updating and is your husbands different to yours?

Strange it works on one but not the other, as I assume they are using the same connection.

It must be a cache issue on your PC cause if it was with the ISP it would be on both.

Try going to google.co.uk or something other than gtouk, then clearing the cache.

Can’t see how your computer friend can say it not your PC when one can see the site fine and the other can’t on the same connection.

Hi Guys
Mine has been playing up for about three days.
The other site forums i am on have been working fine even ones that have exactly the same format as this. I cleared everything out anyway even though I housekeep at least once a week and all is now fine.
Thanks for the help.
Cheers
Ming

Thanks for the feedback Richard.

Glad it worked

Mark

Really starting to pee me off now–i only have PC access at work (have to work with them every day so don’t want one at home) and got back in this morning hoping that everything would be sorted.
Tried to get on site via my usual desktop icon    still the ■■■■■■ same as last week.
Got on by opening an e-mail (as before) and read the latest posts on the subject since Friday.
Cleared out my cache as advised, even though i “housekeep” every week, still the same

Any further suggestions would be appreciated

I notice from your IP that your ISP/work uses a proxy server, at a guess I would say they have a copy of the page which isn’t clearing out of their cache.

Mark

Thanks for reply Mark–what do i need to do next?

Not sure, as you can’t clear the cache yourself.

It looks more like an ISP proxy, as I can see other members have used the same same proxy. Would be intresting to see if thos members are also having issues.

I will look to see which members it is and if they are still using it, and if they are having issues.

Mark

Only one of the others is still an active member, I have PM’d him.

Mark

Thanks for your efforts Mark–doing my head in

Sorry to be still banging on about my lack of site access-must be the only one now.
I have cleaned out everything that has been suggested (cheers for your pm Paul), now let me tell you of this mornings very funny happenings.

Could’nt get on via my usual desktop icon-usual file download box appears, so went to a saved e-mail to get on site, logged on and now i can access every section on the forum EXCEPT: General Discussion and The Lounge–how weird is that???
If i try each of these, that dam “File download” box appears again.

Come on you computer buffs–how on earth can i get on to all but 2 sections on the forum???

My work pc will be under-going a drop test very soon if i can’t get this sorted

Latest update:

OK guys, have created new desktop icon and yippee :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: can now get back into the site and log on

BUT :frowning: :frowning: I am still unable to get into General Discussion and The Lounge, still keeps showing the “file download” box for these 2 sections

Any ideas anyone

No idea mate, everyone else that cleared out their cache seems to have got back on fine, but for some reason it not working for you.

As it isn’t an issue with the site, it makes it hard to work out.

Try downloading http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and running that I guess…it will clear out all your cache etc.

Go through the list of options on left if you want to keep your recent documents, history etc, and check out the application tab as well.

Mark

Mark,
Thanks for all your help on this, tried to run C Cleaner but as this is work pc it won’t let me do it (big brother)

I live in hope that one morning i will come to work, log on and all will be well

Thanks again
