Soon to be new owner

Thought I’d join the forum to say a quick hello. I’ll be buying myself a 3000GT over the next few months. I have a Mazda RX-8 at the moment but i’ve got my heart set on a 3000GT now so as soon as I sell up I’ll be on the hunt for one. Looking forward to getting one and speaking to you all in the future.

Scott

Good luck and finding what you want buddy

Welcome to GTOUK.

Welcome to the Club dude, make sure you check out the buyers guide on here before you go shopping, have had at least one guy recently buy a 3000gt that wasn’t what the receipts said it was :-/

Welcome to the club.

What kind of budget, spec and power level are you thinking of.

Liam Concannon in the Jap Drag Series runs an RX8 as his spare car. All I can say is that a stock GTO/3000GT will be waaayyyyy quicker than you are used to.

Most important is to join up and gain from the vast amount of knowledge on the forum

Thanks for the welcome guys. Ill be giving all the buyer guides a good read when im ready to buy. Ill be joining the club when im ready to buy as well. As for model i haven’t looked into to much detail on exact models, as long as its twin turbo 'd i don’t mind. Would they be that much quicker then a rx-8 standard then? :? The problem with rx-8s is they are incredibly gripy on a summers day, but as soon as it gets cold or wet they get a bit more tricky. The 3000 gt should be a more all year round car.

Liams RX8 ran around 16.3 @ 83 mph in the 1/4 mile. In my stck red GTO I ran 13.7 @ 99.9 mph. With an extra 0.2 bar of boost my red car ran 12.5 @ 107 mph.

I would say appreciably quicker. It will definitely handle better in the wet too.

A standard Twin Turbo will be a vast difference over your RX8, I had a look at those a few years ago but it would have been a backwards step performance wise . The GTO/GT is an underrated car for its size , the doubters and knockers give them a hard time as they see them as sports cars , where in fact they are Grand tourers and very good at it too . With a little bit of money spent they can also handle pretty damn good too

On a side note I thought the RX8 was too slow for me at the time, now I drive a pick up truck

Welcome to GTOUK and if you have any questions or queries just ask away we will do our best to help

I did warn you

Cool, i look forward to getting one now to find out for myself.

Welcome to GTOUK, Just bear in mind whilst looking for a car the UK 3000GT have spent all their lives on British roads with all the salt etc & are very prone to rot, in saying that there are still some good ones out there, The GTO`s being a Jap import fair an awful lot better in the condition stakes, any car needs a good look at & you only have to ask if you are going to look at one if somebody from here could go with you, good luck with the search & again welcome to the world of deep pockets

Julian.

Welcome, good luck on buying one and nice choice

I am seriously hunting for a 3000GT myself over the next few months. I had a friend in college who owned one and I fell in love with it almost instantly. Now that I have a steady income and a little bit of extra money I intend on upgrading my current piece of crap for a much better ride. I have been looking online and found a few that are for sale in my area. I intend on test driving one or two next week. Be sure to post pics of your car once you buy it and welcome to the forum!
