I just thought if might be of interest to a few members.

Rich

A bit far away still but it sounds interesting.

Used to live up that way until recently, still visit all the time. Work dependant, I am interested, Will see nearer the time if I,m free. (Cant make any promises about fast laps tho, wouldnt want to let the side down & all that!)

I am now entered for this event :skid:

Should be a blast, would be great to get more of our cars entered 8)

Dell

This should be fun :skid: i’m on track with http://www.21stcentury.co.uk/cars/ac_superblower.asp

Come on dudes, there is time to get a good few gt/gto entered.
I have spoken to a gto driver who has entered before, he said he was hitting 140mph in his standard gto, on the straights, with time attack 700bhp +evo passing him.
That made him feel like he was going backwards  but he still loves doing the event.
I really hope he’s not got his tracks confused, & it really is that fast

Dell

Duds or Dudes Dell

Am I bad, Dudes Man Dudes

There are still places left, if you would like to race

Anyone going there to watch & have a day out

Just been having another look at your car in the Garage. It’s very, very nice! I still have a way to go…
I think you’ll give that 320bhp Cobra clone a good run for it’s money on the day!
Wish I could join you, but I’m working in Bumphuck, Germany that weekend…

Is that a real place in Germany or are you making it up?
Imagine someone asking you where you were from and you replied “Bumf**k” cos that’s how it reads

Bumphuck? No, it’s not real  - sorry, it’s just an old term used in our industry (and elsewhere, I’m sure!) to describe some Godforsaken town, whose name is totally forgetable or unpronouncable, in the middle of nowhere, somewhere a 1000 miles away from home. And you don’t want to be there… it’s just quicker to call it Bumphuck

Well it sounds as if it should be somewhere in the land of sausage munchers

Thanks for car remarks, I do my best with limited resources.

The http://www.21stcentury.co.uk/cars/ac_superblower.asp may not be the car I end up against on the day.
But for me it’s going to be about getting the best time I & my car can do, competing against all cars, & not being too embarresed by the end result.
I know the light weight supercars, (which may even be running on racing slicks for all i know) should destroy my times, but hay hoe, I was born to race, & it’s going to be legal too
When the time attack evo ect enter, I feel they will be hard for anyone to beat

As you say - just enjoy the day… .
There’s no shame in losing, after all, is there? I mean, letting the GTOUK side down by not winning isn’t important, is it? It’s not as if the whole membership of this club is relying on you to give the Scoobies and Evos a thorough trouncing on the day… so there’s absolutely no pressure on you at all to drive like a maniac, balls out, determined to win, is there?
But DO try not to scratch that beautiful motor…

LOL as I said, i’ll do my best LOL

Would be good to get more cars entering this race, even if they are not GT/GTO
However what there does look challanging enough

I’m Totally Gutted… & not just for myself, but for all the good guys who tried to make this exciting, & charitable, new event happen.

Email that was sent to me

Dear All,

It is with great regret that we have had to cancel our August Charityball Rally event.Planned to be held This Bank Holiday 30th August.

Due to various reasons, drivers have been dropping out like flies, with all sorts of excuses etc. However the bottom line is we still wanted to go ahead with the event and up to this Saturday things still looked shaky and downsized but all intensions to go ahead with the event.

However the final straw was when all the Nissan guys pulled out, leaving us with a spartan grid of about nineteen cars ( ten of being my friends from the Gti Golf racing club we have started) . The Mini Club had requested a parade drive but none wanted to Race, The Ferrari guys in fairness tried as hard as they could but the final number resembled five cars.

So when we made all the calls on reserved and unpaid places on Friday the upshot was that it would only be about 10-19 cars, you can see hardly a show.I could not expect locals to come and watch 10-19 cars race when all the advertising indicated 100 cars.

I now have the un-enviable task of notifying the Cheerleading group who have been practising since about May, The Chromatic pop group who reserved the date for us. The F1 cars suppliers and the drift car champ. I also have to notify my personal friend Eddie Kidd from motorcycle jump frame , who was intending to do some parade laps on his quad bike for the first time since his accident. And the heartbreaking call i have to make to Breakthrough Breast Cancer to let them know. The reason we put this on was to benefit them.

I can only apologise wholeheartedly to yourselves who actually paid in full for the event, reserved time off like us to do it.

All your monies wiil be returned to you, with a personal apology this week.

On a personal note i still cannot believe that nobody ( others not your goodselves ) seems interested in racing there car for a fun dayout and for a great charity. If its a recession thing i can understand but its not that bad out there is it? i would pull someones arms off to race a car at a track for £50 . And i feel i would have been better off giving the Charity the money i have personally invested in this event, than the amount that it would now be raising.

Please check the website for updates www.charityballevents.com

And once again my sincere humblest apologies.

                  Philip Hatton Event Organiser
