Hi Robbie
I’ve posted this before, don’t know whether u’ve seen it, but as a few of our members may remember - I’m in the Motor Trade and specialise in Jap Imports (mainly MPV’s & 4x4’s although we’ve got a couple of mr2’s, mx5’s, supras etc.)
The insurance company we recommend is Osborne & Sons. We had a call from them aqround 5 months ago and they were obviously on a sales pitch, but they more or less told us that they could beat any genuine insurance quote for any of our customers. Several people who’ve bought from us and insured with them have said they got some good deals - in one case a quote of over 450 pounds CHEAPER than Tesco’s for a Toyota Lucida. - … It may pay to get a quote, you never know…

BUT … the obvious advise mate is, shop around! A few phone calls could save you £’s
good luck

Hi Robbiej.
Yeah ,Tesco came up trumps for me, 42 full no claims. £620 1998 3000GT.
Taken out in August 2003 No mention of a tracker though, Just cat 1 .everyone else wanted £1100 plus. Keep it right Tesco.
FireBall3000GT
Tesco’s wanted £1900 + tracker my current insurance comp wanted £750 on a limited milage policy… Tesco’s arn’t always the best so shop around.

Tesco’s has just quoted me £1966 + tracker … My insurance runs out in Feb and this is the second quote i have had this month that’s around the £2000 mark.
I only paid £780 last year for the same level of cover. I hope my renewal price is kind to me or the old banger may have to go.

seems slightly steep, I’m 24 and I only paid £1100 on a Twin Turbo (with tracker), but that’s 4 years NCB and you haven’t mentioned so…
Fireball3000GT: they probly didn’t mention a tracker cos yours is a UK car, Tesco seem to want a tracker on any import
Osbournes just refused to insure me as I’am under 30,
91 TT in street, 2nd most expensive post code, (Edinburgh), 28, 10yrs no claims no accs, convictions(not for driving anyway) or mods.
Best so far is Keith Michaels 0870 848 8888 at £950 FC with Cat 1 and £500 excess include both parents.
seems a bit steep as my 200sx is only £500.
Any suggestions where I can do better.
so far
Admiral, with at moment £1800, I laughed,
Tett Hamilton £979
Adrian Flux £1096,
Osbournes, too young
Cheers, Richie

Stevie,
I owe you a pint mate.

Hi
I’m 34 with full no claims bonus and have 6 points on my licence.
The big thing that got the price down was the fact that i have owned the car for more than 2 years and have proven experience of driving this type of vehicle.
Dave[/quote]
after loads more phoning found “insurance line”
offered me £800 on 3000mile FC but they didn’t need my NCD
everbody asked what experience of driving similar cars,
one guy said if I didn’t already have 200sx they wouldn’t touch me.
and no one will even quote me for Skyline, I’d have thought GTO and skyline were about same risk
i cant see how they work it out my insurance on the gto tt is 530 quid 36 max no claims group 20 car and yet when i enquired about insuring a gtr v spec they wanted three times as much but its also a group 20 !!!
explain that one lol
tescos insure me for £1400 .im 23.and heve a 91 gto tt with full bodykit, engine mods,£3000 wheel cover and £2000 sterio cover.they were over £200 cheaper than anywhere else.

Hi all,
shop around is the name of the game.
I was with an insurance company for 4 years,3 years no claims and they wanted over £1200 fully comp so i phoned around. In the end i got it for £660 with Trust Insurance im 36.Ive found in the past that to stay with the same comp for to many years doesnt pay they seem to think that you wont go anywhere else and so load your policie.
Paul
I went onto elephant.co.uk to see how much I’d be for a 99 twin turbo valued at 15k. I’m 23 with 5 years ncb and bonus protection, quote was about £650. I’m £800 just now with my calibra turbo!
My brother who is 21 got a good quote on the same car. Was £800 - 1000!
Mind you I didn’t run it with my 3 points but they won’t make much difference and due to come off soon anyway!
Glad i looked at this post, direct line were quoting me 950.00 a year for a h91 with modded front bumper and some engine mods, Osbourne’s are quoting me 795.00 im 32 with full no claims annd 3 points. this forum is paying off already.
Having upgraded from a slow golf GTI turbo to the famous 3000gt my insurance followed suit with a great increase. All of the performance companies would not touch me until 30!! Great thought I wouldn’t get anywhere, but managed to get Direct Line to sort me out for £1,100…hopefully be on the road in two weeks. Agem 28…
GTI’s beware…
Great web page…
fantastic!!! the forum has paid off again…saved £300 quid…
Cheers all
