Thanks for my winter project :)

Hi all,

Just want to say a massive thankyou to many people for helping me getting my car sorted over the winter. I took on an engine change which turned into a big project due to worn parts and I would have really struggled if it wasn’t for club members.

I just want to thank @Beanus for giving his weekends up to give me a hand, @stevie for lending me tools and the endless advice over the phone, @gavin_naish for sorting me the speed sensor, @Marty_K for helping me correct the ac removal issue and the suspension advice he gave me which I have finally sorted. @petermartin2009 for bringing me a part. @samantha for losing her weekends and putting up with me covered constantly in oil lol Also for anyone who has given me advice etc who I may have missed.

I was really surprised about how much was worn when the car has flown through mots so many times. Some idea why it was such a big project, I replaced wheel bearings, steering rack gaiters (changed the rack), cv boots, uprated suspension bushes etc, mk2 brake upgrade, stage 4 clutch and lighten flywheel, full cambelt kit, new rocker cover and plenum, braided hoses clutch and brakes, ball joints, rws delete, ac delete, under-sealed the car, refurbished sub frames, new adjustable camber arms, new mk2 engine, aluminum crankshaft pulley new thermostat, full service all oils, new ht leads, new bulbs, painted engine bay, almost new radiator, new uprated engine mounts, new bling engine bits. Reverse switch, new horn, downpipe issue improved and probably loads I have missed. Alignment booked and also a nice mot pass certificate

So well worth having your car looked over I thought my car was in quite good condition, very shocked. Project thread to follow when I get a few minutes free.

Cheers,
Neil

yeah, soooo not looking forward to pulling mine apart, already know a few days engine swap will turn into a major overhaul. Good work though for persisting and getting it done.

Thanks there was a few times it almost broke me mainly when things had to go backwards to get fixed. The worse was the rear turbo leaking water and water pouring from a random blanking plate where a bolt was missing above the water pump which isn’t something we had anything to do with.
