As you some of you know, I’ve had a particularly bad year from a health point of view with an emergency operation at the beginning of last year (which has continued, ongoing complications), and more recently a growth on my thyroid gland which may well necessitate further surgery (it’s cancerous), and all the hospital visits for tests, scans and other procedures. On top of that an arthritic knee which is getting worse, and damaged discs at the base of my spine which makes walking any distance extremely painfull.
Things really have been getting on top of me, and I have lots of other things to worry about than a car, so I’ve decided to get rid of the GTO.
I simply don’t have the strength to fight for the club anymore. Unfortunately, it does look like someone needs to take the helm who is able to do just that, as there are more arguments brewing in the background again.
I wish that everyone could just get on with enjoying their cars, but it seems that isn’t enough and the need to grind axes just won’t go away.
Taking this into consideration, I regretfully have to say that I will be standing down with immediate effect, as I can see that the stress involved with it all will just wear me down again, and I can’t afford that at the moment.
Please understand that this is no way an admission of fault or anything like that, simply that I have to do what is right for me now.
Best of luck in the future, and I’ll always be contactable if necessary. I do hope that I’ll see some of you in the future.
Thanks for the effort you have put in over the years Ian its been much appreciated over the 7 years I’ve been about. I hope things improve for you over the next year.
Ian, you have been a real asset to the club and I’m sure you’ll be sorely missed. I’m really sorry to hear about all your troubles and I hope you get on the road to recovery really soon. Look after your self and live life to the full mate. We hope all goes well and our prayers are with you
