Have you asked the ecu dr he’s a great bloke if you can speak to him direct he may have a go.
No not spoke to him but been on his site and says does not do gearbox ecu . I sent it to Stoke on trent to ecutesting.com and they say all ok apart from couple dry joints
I would imagine it’s quite a bit more involved than an engine ecu I dunno but suppose the best and only real way is to get a second hand good unit to swap & check.
Been looking for one for nearly a month now and been let down a couple of times on the old ebay . Presume the number has to be same as one off the car .
As its gone through Mot now I’m dying to use it

I don’t think numbers matter too much I think all autos are the same ie long as its mk1 should be ok. I had one earlier in the year but it went off to USA for £140 they are quite rare as seems to be the biggest fault with auto ones. I have had one but now have a tt just had to be done lol, no help to you I know have you rang Graham’s auto world he may have one.
Yes spoke to Grahams and not got one unfortunately, I got my front head ,cams and replacement bottom end from them
I read that it had to be same and some say it doesn’t and being new to them is throwing me.
I usually restore and run Opel Manta and Kadetts so no electronic gizmos in them
Mate same here I’ve had 4 944s 3 924s and an s2 Porsches over the last 4 years the Gto is far beyond mine & most people’s minds there is so much stuff to go wrong hence so many now get broken up,the turbo is full of gremlins, but it’s an amazing car when sorted and can’t find nothing that looks like it or gets the attention so we carry on regardless 
I wont give up till its up and running then I can trade up to a turbo car , nice to cut my teeth on this first

Yes mate that’s what I did, early Jan Feb March is a good time to look for a turbo like with all cars money a bit tight after Christmas that’s when I got mine was cheap but I’ve added it up and it’s now a 6k motor Good luck Keep us posted
