HI ,i own GTO tt 97 my renewal for insurance is due in two weeks, i have driving licence for almost 20 years, no any claims, no any accidents all my life, this GTO now is being insured in Direct Line for 5 years, and every year i am paying over 2000 pounds ( with claims protection) they really ripping me off. i just moved out of manchester to cheshire, so iam hoping to get better price.
my gto is standard, and its import. Can anybody tell me why the hell my insurance price is this high? this is insane, when i see some of you guys are paying few hundreds pounds, why the hell i am paying 2300pounds

Costs for cars in Manchester are high due to expected recovery costs if if would be stolen.
Its not easy getting these cars back from Liverpool😅

As it says in the thread the guy who was having trouble was from Liverpool. I assume it was the same trouble you are having. Have you tried RH?? That’s who everyone here seems to be with. Remember to insure it as a classic

Where i Cheshire are you? I am in Warrington.
Only costs half from Liverpool.
Btw mine is a 99 ukk 3000 Gt insured fully comp with unlimited milage cost about 300 with Hasings Direct.

i live now in Alderley Edge , since june. Also about classic policy, i’ve been told that i cant insure this car if this is my main car, for classic, it need to be a secondary car.
in five years, ive paid over 11000 pounds on just insurance, i think this is a bit silly as i am 37 and non accidental driver.

Try calling Hastings Direct or Liverpool Victoria.
Check by putting details in Moneysupermarket. These 2 came out 3 and 4th on list. 1 and 2 were cheaper but i hadn’t heard of them so didnt oursue it

This will be the policy of the individual insurer and not a general rule of classic policies. Ring around a few companies and check with them. I had mine on a classic policy as my only car for a while with Footman James. It even included commuting to a single place of work.

Sorry, are you guys insuring imports? Or UK models, I’m 26 paying 960 a year with Keith micheals, my Audi 3.0 was only 600!

Ours is an import with severe modification

We are with RH Specialists which you will have seen many on here are.

Just had a quote from rh for 180… Will have a chat with them tomorrow as I need to declare mods which wasn’t an option on line. Last time I used footman was 2 years ago and it was about 220

One year down on the GTO have to say was worried about the renewal as it was a decent price last year… renewal comes in at £199 all mods declared and even includes breakdown cover, 5k cap on mileage and is second car. Thanks to everyone here last year for sorting this out for me, it’s with RH Specialist Vehicle Insurance btw :+1::grin:
