Updated Venue AGM and Japfest 2024 6th - 7th April

Hi @rachel

So not just round the corner then!

I am sure you will be able to source 1, but any problems drop me a message

Thanks

It was great to see you all at the Japfest yesterday. I missed Angus though, perhaps we’ll meet at another gathering sometime.
Rachel, well done to you and Gerti for getting all the way back home. That was some journey for you… I too was very relieved to read that you’d made it back home without further incident.
The rad replacement is, as you already know, an easy fix.
It was quite an amazing turnout of Japanese steel, wasn’t it! I lost count of the number of R35s all lined up in rows…
Our marques still hold their own out there, by quite some way, but I did catch myself doing a second take at a couple of NSX’s…naughty me, hehe!
I see that there are potentially quite a few members going to the Jap Show., next. The more the merrier.
For my sins, I’m up in the Lake District then (which will be a first). I don’t think I’ll be yomping up Scafell Pike on this occasion, but instead something a bit less exhausting and technically interesting…Donald Campbell’s Bluebird has been renovated, and is in a museum at Coniston, so that’ll be interesting to see.
Take care all of you.

Mike

AGM 2024 notes:

attendees: James, Simon, Steve, Tracie, Paul, Mark, Lara, Joe, Chelsea, Mike, Barbara, Rachel, Dave, Ian.

General thoughts from the committee was day meets are well attended with good turnouts at Japfest, SantaPod etc..

Overnight camping meets such as birthday bash do not appear as popular as they once were - people suggested things such as camping sites with pods/ glamping and making it clear people can attend for the day if they wish.

Discussion around local meets - and the club is happy to support local meets that members are free to organise themselves but the club does want to avoid a clash with the main events held throughout the year.

Club fees - it was generally felt the annual membership of £20 p/a was a good price and also cheaper compared to prices paid for other clubs (Steve had spoken to few different clubs at the NEC event about this).

Club Shop - it was noted the club shop doesn’t have the range of items as it used too. additional items such as drinks bottles, caps, hoodies etc.. were discussed the issue often is the minimum order quantity, storage of stock and how many would realistically get sold..

The accounts were summarised and displayed by Simon - detailing expenses of the new NEC equipment and the Car scanners purchased from the US - a benefit to club members as one is always available at club meets. It was commented that the cost of the member full platform had increased but was manageable by the club. SB commented the automatic renewals and PayPal system was working well.

SB asked if there was any questions - none were asked and the accounts were accepted by members.

The discussion then focused on the frequency of the AGM/ GM currently run every 2 years but due to lower numbers can this meeting be held less frequently.

Initially SB proposed 5 years - with the option to hold a meeting if needed - a number of members thought this would be too long as many things can change in 5 years. members also liked the idea of the AGM as its gets people together. A comment bout holding the meeting via Teams was discussed although the general feeling was GTOUK didn’t want to be an internet only club and that in person meetings work best - with teams difficult to manage once > 10 people attend.

A vote was held on the frequency of the AGM/GM:

2 years = 4 votes

3 years = 6 votes

5 years = 3 votes

decision to hold AGM every 3 years was carried.

the 3 committee members Steve (chairman), Simon (treasurer) and James (secretary) were all re-elected to the post.

Under AOB - Mike was congratulated for his support in managing the car club equipment (quarter master) and supporting events such as the NEC even though he wasn’t displaying a car. the committee and members agreed to refund mike his NEC entry tickets.

End of meeting.
