Weird

Just been getting a few quotes for my jap 93 TT. I am 21, 2 years ncb and no convictions living in the Manchester area.
Norwich union says we don’t insure jap imports!!!. and I am too young.
Admiral says I require a maximum ncb before they would give me a quote.
G.S.I says I am too young come back when I am 25.
Jap Specialists insurance. say no I have to be over 25.
Keith Michaels. No we will not insure you.
AON Said they would not cover the car as it is over 10 years old.
and the last one

Liverpool Victoria quoted £3293 tpft

Help!!!

I’m surprised Liverpool Victoria even quoted as they don’t normally quote on under 30’s

Thanks will give them a try this morning and let you know, I am getting a blister on my finger with all this dialing! lol.

Sorry I have not got back earlier, but been a bit sick, and doing a few jobs on the car. Anyway Tesco says sorry they will not insure anybody under 25 on that type of car!!
But thanks to this board have got a quote from Adrian Flux for £3235 and that is now, they also told me I can get 15% off this price and the following year it will be 25% off if I do my advanced training this is a scheme run by Adrian Flux, Max Power Mag and Honda, so I will be going off to take that.

funny that ,as im insured with them

Tried them, the girl says she could not get me a quote for that car because I am under 25 but try the site on line, and you can get a discount of 10% maybe that will help???

I got insured at 21 with 1 years NCB with Admiral for £1360 fully comp, glass cover courtesy car etc etc. That’s on a 3000 GTO. :?

quoted me £2500!

21, 3 years ncb, 3points, missus on insurance, living out in the sticks!

And there was me moaning at being quoted £800. After seeing these figures it doesn’t seem so bad now.

Not wanting to upset anyone but I finally got cover for £450  but I am an old fart.

I’ve had a go on the Norwich Union website, and they say they only insure imports that were built after 1993, which is a pain, as when I filled in the form for a 1993 GTO TT, I could get it down to under £500 fully comp with a large excess.

I’ll drop them a line and ask them if they’d consider quoting on 1990 onwards GTOs, since they’re the same car as the '93 to all intents and purposes!

Steve

I’m with NU and they were happy to insure me, I’ve even got 9 points. Although at a very old 35 :frowning:

Admiral says they definately do not do GTO Imports only FTO’s!! So if I was you I would check them again.

Thanks anyway.

Phoned them, they say you must be over 25 years of age.

Thanks anyway.

I phoned them up and asked if they would insure GTOs between 1990 and 1992 since they are basically the same as the 1993 car they are willing to insure. Their answer? An unsuprising no. Apparently their underwriter’s have specified 1993 onwards as the international agreements on vehicle safety changed in late '92, so they see pre-'93 cars as a much higher risk. The fact that the GTO never changed between 1992 and 1993 wouldn’t persuade him to budge either.

So, how do I find out the exact date my car rolled off the production line? Something for a new thread I think.
