Why do Tesco list my GTOs as 225BHP?

I got a quote from Tesco, as they were better than DirectLine for my Honda (but wouldnt offer driving-other-cars) so I was expecting them to beat £420 FC from DL…

Imagine my surprise when they wanted £626 FC for a vehicle they considered to be (from the reg number):

MITSUBISHI GTO {IMPORT} 225 BHP TURBO 2972cc 2DR

So my question is… Is it really 225BHP?

The other question I had… I’m sure I posted a topic recommending direct line, but now, I cant find it! Did it get deleted or what?

225bhp is for a Non-turbo, all non-turbos are imports
280 bhp for Twin Turbo import.
Tesco hadnt a clue of differences when i first asked for a quote

for christs sake make sure you ring them and explain what it is - dont just do it from the online form, they are crap and wrong, and in the event of a claim they could turn around and say

“well the car you have is not the one that you chose on the insurance form, we aint paying out”

Yes sir! Lol… I’d probably go with direct line anyways; they quoted me approx £350 for the year so tesco are way out of the ball park with £600+ !!

I take it your car is unmodified then? My quote from Direct Line was double that, and I get pretty low rates (no claims etc).

try sky you might be suprised

Just changing mine to Sky - about half the price of Direct Line and a fraction of the excess.
