Wow stunning quote - Privilege Insurance (on UK 1999 3000GT)

Hi Guy’s,

Just thought I’d add this on… Did all the normal ringing round after I was quoted £813 from Chaucer (via broker).

Got a stunning quote of £565 from Privilege on a UK 1999 3000GT… I’m 38, 5yrs NCD and 3 Points (Speeding 4/2002, I’d only had the car two months  ).

All other quotes were above £750 cheapest others Adrian Flux and Churchill most expensive DirectLine £1500 and just about everything inbetween.

The policy covers business commuting and is available with protected NCD for another £100.

Note: This was a web quote so may have had some extra discount.

David.

The quotes are fine but trying to make a claim is anything but a priviledge.
My car was written off a few years ago by a motorcyclist who was commiting 11 traffic violations at the time. It took me 18months to settle the claim against him and priviledge were as much use as a chocolate tea pot in trying to sort it out. I ended up nearly £8000 out of pocket as a result.

Hope you have better luck with them.

Best regards,

Damien.

I was with Priveledge when I had an FTO, when I bought the GTO they were not so cheap, Norwich Union was the best quote and only required a cat 2 . I fitted a Cat 1 out of preference.

Cheers

Hi Again,

Noted the posts on this one… and also a post by ORCA.

Bit strange, as all insurance companies seem to be to me! even though I worked for one (many moons ago I must say).

I tried the usual trawling around and these were by far (£160) the best and I got quotes for Tesco, NU, Elephant, Adrian Flux, Osbournes, DirectLine, Liv Vic etc… about 15-20 in total (I’ve lost the bit of paper or I’d post the details of each quote).

Really weird how they can quote such radically different figures, but I was told (I’m not lying) it’s cheaper to insure an import rather than a UK car, plus some other similar things which seem strange to me.

Anyway in the end my insurance over the past three years has dropped from £1450 NU, to £950 Chaucer and this year I’ve got it down to £565 from a renewal quote of £813.

As I said weird but i’m happy.

David.
