Your all gonna hate me..!

I was with Privilige and have been for several years. As most of you probably know there supposedly the sister company to direct line (my previous insurers) and specialise in the more performance or prestige end of the market. (Tesco’s are also part of Direct line)
When I considered moving up to the grunt of a GTO TT, I gave them a ring, told them my plans and got the usual “sharp intake of breath” followed by “I’ll see what we can do for you sir, we do specialise in this type of car you know”. After being on hold for a minute or two was told the usual, £750 ish, will need a tracker monitor (about £500 to £600 fitted plus £99 pound per year subscription) must be garaged blah blah blah.
Yeah thanks mate, I think I’ll ring round.

After following the suggestions of the other members on this forum I ended up insuring with Liverpool & Victoria. I couldnt understand how they could be so competitive until I got the paperwork through.
There a friendly society…!!.. a non profit making organisation…!!..not a bunch of sharks…like all the others.

Its not all good news, to qualify for there best quote I had to be very old (42…? that will do) have a clean licence and maximum no claims i.e.9years+ncd.
They came up with £454 and an excess of £400. that was fully comp, me and the wife (although I’ve no plans to let her loose in it)
Being an old fossil and never getting out of first gear much I asked if I could increase the excess to reduce the premium.
The lovely young (big breasted) girl said she could only increase it to a maximum of £500 and that would bring the policy down to £405…!
Bonus…£405…that’s only £45 more than I was paying for my previous group 12 car.
That was for fully comp, me and the wife, 180 days european driving cover, protected no claims (max 2 claims in 5 years), no excess on windscreen repairs unlimited, £100 excess on windscreen replacements unlimited, courtesy car while GTO’s being repaired, few other add on’s , cant really remember now.
All in all a blinding quote and according to some of the SCOOBYNET members, they even payout when you make a claim…!!!

Naturally I signed on the dotted…Who would’nt…???

well … all i can say to that is b*$%&££((£ …!!!

hehe …having said that i got mine for £750 fully comp. with protected no claims and windscreen cover … etc etc …

not bad for a 26 year old tosser with 5 years ncb. …!! ( tesco’s.net if any 1 interested …)

happy motoring … i guess …!!!

I knew there would be a few younger members out there that would be peeed of at the quotes us oldies get…have fun…!!!

I would rather have youth on my side than cheaper premiums anyway, premiums go down your age never does

Did you declare your mods though?

Stew

Yeah, thats the strange thing, I declared everything which didnt seem to be of interest to the young attractive (big breasted) girl. she was’nt even interested in security devices such as cat 1 immobiliser or alarms…???
Very Bizzarre…? every company I called prior to that wanted a cat 1 immobiliser as a minimum…???

When you’ve worked out the logic behind car insurance companies, can you let me know…???

Yes I agree that does sound strange, perhaps it was her first day there and she didnt understand mods or alarms   , hope they have quoted you correct, maybe worth giving all the paperwork a proper read or a phone call to double check.

Cheers
Stew

Based on your insecurity, I will phone them on Monday and just check that what I think I’m insured for…I actually am.

Thanks for your concern, I hope they are right and your wrong.
If they are right it will (hopefully) help reassure my faith in insurance companies.

No need Orca, I and various other members are insured through them and it really is as good as it sounds. I declared all my mods and it didn’t make the slightest bit of difference. It is truly a breath of fresh air to deal with a company who actually seems to help the motorist get a good deal rather than just fleece them for every penny.

However, I don’t know anyone who’s put a claim in through them yet so have no idea if they turn into a pile of ■■■ when that happens. I have heard various stories about Direct Line being a complete Pain In The Preverbials as soon you log a claim.

I wonder if anyone on hear has put in a claim and knows whether they are just as good?

I agree. at the end of the day. if your a mature safe (ish) driver with no accidents or convictions why should you pay a really high premium?

To be honest, I still think that £405 is steep.

If you consider that I havnt made a single claim in all my years driving, look at the money the insurance companies have made out of me. :!:

My renewal has come through from Liv. Victoria ( 1 year of GTO ownership!!! ) 36 years young, full protected NCB, 1 sp30  ,£466 !!!

Pete

Anybody got a phone number for Liv Vic as my insurance is up for renewal next month.

Cheers,
Jeremy

As some of the Members know that after JAE last year the wifes Ford probe got nicked and within 1 day the courtesty car was sat in the drive and they could not do more to help us.
The car was found a week later and they took care of all of the small scatches and the ignition being broken and the car back to us with a full velet.
Best service I have ever seen with an insurance company.
I was with Direct line before I just changed and they are just Crap as I had to tell them what the value was of my car because they did not have a clue.
Also make sure you send them a pic of any mod to your car with indication of the price as they will only pay you market value on the car unless you have sent in any information regrading any other mods which they say they will pay for as long as they have prove that it is fitted to the car.
Take a pic of every thing and get it sent in.
Also just to say that Liverpool and Victoria are Frizzel and will only insure you if you are over 30

Just to ■■■■ you off I’m also insured with Liverpool Victoria £295 protected no claims. unlimited milage, Cat 2 immobilizer. Mods and points on licence no problem.

 Well you are right, thats more than enough to ■■■■ me off!!! Talking about insurance is such a dirty business, its like mentioning fuel economy…PAHHHHHH, I need to go and wash my mouth out with soap and water now…

Just got a quote from Liverpool Victoria and not much cheeper than my current Insurance company AON.

I’m 36 with 5+ NCB and no points or convictions.

AON = 750
Liv Vic = 690

If I push AON I’m sure they would match that, I guess a lot has to do with your geographic location, what’s a good company for some might not be for others.

Cheers,
Jeremy

When it comes to insurance?? (i’m 38)

I pay around 750 ish with Adrian Flux, intending to do some modding when I get it back after a Gearbox repair, Clutch. Will start with a decat pipe, the free boost mod and a boost controller then a dump valve… any idea what Adrian Flux is like for mods… or should I wait…

They were good when I had a modified Triumph GT6 when I was 20
