Cool - I didn’t know there was a trophy!

Can you tell me what the IT means exactly - I mean is that measured at airfilters?

Cheers

James

Yes James

Intake temp and AT is ambient or atmospheric temp.

André

Hi mate, its a shame i had to work, otherwise I would have been there and it would have been nice to catch up with you, next meet that comes up i’ll try and pop down!

regards

VJ

Hi Ben

It would be good to see the results for those that dont mind fella 8)

might also help get more people motivated to go if another event is organised at your place .

Craig

It was a shame I couldn’t stay long. You guys were recording some damn good results there. Well done for keeping the cars reliable at those figures.

Me know dat. I mean intake temp at airfilter or post intercoolers/plenum?

Any news/findings Andre?

Cheers chap

James

James

It is my belief that the temperature probe is placed as near to the air filter as possible.

Regarding mine, I will hopefully know more later as they are putting stock cams back in as we speak to do leak down and compression tests again. That should isolate whether it is the cams or not at least.

André

Okay here we go- no one has said dont post their results, but if you want yours removed then tell me:-

All flywheel results

Elton- Evo 5 -384.4BHP
John - 3000GT -274.8BHP
James -GTO- 434.5BHP
Allen - 3000GT- 353.2 BHP
Tony - Evo 8- 283.3 BHP
Raz - Glanza- 167.3BHP
Ray -GTO- 418.8BHP
Mick -GTO- 412.3 BHP
Dudley -3000GT- 283.0BHP
Jack - Civic Turbo- 249.3BHP
Storks - Push Bike- 2.2BHP

Cheers,

Ben.

Storks deserves a trophy!

André

For James and Andre,

We measure AT at the weather sation on top of the dyno cab, along with baro and rh. We measure IT at the air filter with a thermocouple.

Dynos are built to produce a reading at standard conditions- as air taken into the system varies in pressure, rh and temperature, then air density changes. As density changes the mass of air per cycle in the engine changes, as this changes then torque output changes. Measuring these variables allows a number to be given that is comparable between different days, temps, pressures etc- ie its all normalised.

Cheers,

Ben.

Storks just get a regular kick up the pipe!

Cheers,

Ben.

cheers for the clarification Ben

André
Wheres all the results then guys ?

Elton how come you took yours down ? who cares if its not a GTO

Craig :)
Here ya go Craig 8)

Cheers for a good day out guys,

Was a LOAD of happy people this time as most made more than expected including a couple of stock cars. 8)

Nice to meet some old faces again, and a few new ones too.

Here are my 2.0l sedans results with air filter, exhaust, boost controller and remap. Still need to smooth out the fueling a little more and this was only 1.5 bar instead of 1.65 bar :stuck_out_tongue:

And after that we knew there was an issue as peak boost was about 2000 rpm higher than it should be. A Bit of investigation led me to this…

Well the impressive power came from a car with a totally duff turbo  , The waste gates arm has worn a great big oval into the exhaust housing which has caused the flaps to wear huge ridges into the seats. The results are one flap stays open by about 3-4mm constantly and the other moves all over the place trying to cover the hole   . That explains the late boost curve and why the fueling takes a huge dip as its ‘ment’ to come on boost but doesn’t make the pressure. The mad thing is its stupidly rapid already  . I don’t think there is too much more to come bhp wise, it will just come in early and hold better torque IMO.

Replacement turbo being fitted this week hopefully, Ps… one hour dead to remove turbo and all fingers/skin intact

Good findings regards the Turbo Elton
