Hi Russ, I thought you said you weren’t going earlier today? But if you are then we’ll go up together - nice one! (if you can keep up … ) What time ferry are you thinking of?

Paul,

Hopefully the club will run another day in the future, but you can rent the dyno any time and tune yourself, or we’ll tune or what ever you prefer.

Cheers,

Ben.

Have had to pull out so a space available I believe.

Apologies to all.

Unless anyone here knows where to get a set of rear trailing arms for an MR (must be MR or Mk3/4) in a super rush…

Paul, Dyno rental is £65 per hour + vat, and yep more than likely it would be me opperating. I’m happy to give advice too.

Cheers,

Ben.

hi,
martin was asking me earlier what time to be there,
it states earlier in this post 9-45,
so we should be there by 9-30.
cheers…russell

Okay, i’m just getting stuff tied up a bit for sunday here are our thoughts on how the day will run…

I’m thinking we wont really be able to do a briefing at the start of the day since people will arrive throughout the morning.

The important stuff you need to know is:-

Toilets- ladies and gents are located directly accross from our building. There are 2 sets of double doors, go through them both, toilets on the left.

Hot Drinks- from the coffee machine outside the waiting room. Tea, coffee, chocolate and soup. If it beeps at them it needs filling up. Grab one of us to do it for you. Fresh tea and coffee there too- undesirable kettle bannished!

Cold Drinks, eg coke etc- In the Red Bull fridge in the waiting room.

TV/DVD/PS2/Video- In waiting room (new one not the old boudoir for those that have been here before!)

There will be some biccies and munchy type thing in the morning to chomp on.

Food- The local dominoes permitting, should be here about 12.30. Help yourselves. Karen will come around and collect money from you if you are wanting food.

Prep for run- We will bring each car in and it will have a very quick check over. That will include checking tyre pressures and condition, checking oil and water. If tyres are dangerous- meaning cuts or cracks to the cords in the sidewalls or over the faces we really cant run the car in case a tyre goes bang! Were not worried about the odd low tread depth or police stds, just nothing blatently dangerous. No snow tyres please. If it needs oil/coolant we have the usual poisons here if they need it. We will ask the expected power output. If your power output is going to be high, we will inflate your tyres to suit and return them to normal pressure after the car comes off the dyno.

Knock sensors and any other diag we need will be attached depending on how you plan to use your dyno time. If you want me to do a bit of mapping, then we will want all our diag on it.

If you want mapping done during your time on the rollers please ensure you have the data cable and software with you for your ecu. We have pretty much all the cables and software already, but you never know! I know my copy of emannage support tool is a bit tempromental, so if you have e-mannage please bring the cd and serial no just in case.

Ian i think will organise the run order on the day.

We will run a leaderboard throughout the day, we propose that the highest bhp at the wheels wins, unless you guys want to suggest something else.

All cars will be run with either tmo or evoscan connected as appropriate, log files available if youd like them.

When the cars come off, all the diag stuff will be removed, and tyre pressures re set if needed.

The rest of the workshop will be closed on Sunday, Mark and i will be running the show, Karen will be around and 'Lil Ben will be in to help. There is always something comes up, so i’m sure one of us will be able to help.

Noise- depending on how the day runs and how many people are around we may run cars with the dyno door down. This reduces the noise a lot. In the cell it will be 100-110db. We have 10 sets of ear defenders- people need to be aware 110db is FAPPIN LOUD!

Screens- in the cell we have 2 screens. There are a further 2 in the waiting room and 2 more outside the cell. All will be on, and these will display the results of each car.

Normally i run cars showing afr and boost as i run them- it means i can stop if i see a problem. This means the power displayed as the cars run will be WHEEL POWER.

WIFI- We have wifi here, its free obviously. If i can get one of our spare laptops going in time i will leave that out for people to surf or what have you. Please, no donkey ■■■■ though, our buying fettish gear on marks e-bay account please!!

I think that just about covers it!

If you think of anything i have forgotten just let me know.

Cheers,

Ben.

Thanks Ben, I reckon that covers most of it.

As for running order, I’ll be there from about 9am, so it’ll be first come, first served, obviously… the earlier you get there, the easier it will be for me to sort out, and the fewer interruptions there will be.

would we able to get a bit of a discount on this if i got a few more cars down??

Paul

think their should be a prize for the smallest amount of power aswell… like a free turbo kit or noz

or a new car

Yeah we do different packages, from 3 cars. You can also do what the club is doing and rent the thing for a full day and do with us what you will!

Cheers,

Ben.
Hi Ben,

I’ve just installed an emanage blue and have used the injector correction facility to get it running. It idles well but I haven’t driven it yet as it needs an MOT.

I was hoping to limp it up and ask you to tweak it for me.

I’ll bring a laptop and all the leads.

Cheers,

Ivan.
Can you bring your emannage cd and serial no too? Shouldnt be a problem to give it a tweak for you.

Cheers,

Ben.

It is with great regret that I have to pull my car out of this event :frowning:

I have just returned from the garage where it has failed it’s third emission test for it’s MOT.

I’ve been working late into the evening for the last few months to get this car ready and was really looking forward to this.
It has fought me every step of the way but at the beginning of the week It was as good as finished, started and idled really well so was booked in for an MOT. We were getting some really strange readings on the emissions and couldn’t seem to balance the CO with the lambda.

This morning on it’s third test after a lot of adjustment and with the CAT back in it was just as bad but now clouds of white smoke where issuing from the exhaust. The top radiator hose had ballooned a bit and didn’t feel like it had water in so I think I may have a head gasket issue!

Anyway I’m letting it cool down at the garage for now then I’m going to go back and get some water in it and limp it back. Oil looks good and it’s less than a mile so it should be OK.

Good luck to all those taking part, I’m going to pop up anyway so see you there.

Ben,

thanks for that, I can’t believe the timing, I was writing the above as you posted!

Ivan.

Hey Ben, Can I take it that you have the leads and program to hook my car up (would still rather have kentucky)

It seems this event is cursed, people dropping out left right and centre, cars going wrong at the last minute and to top it all Ben’s managed to break my windscreen :stuck_out_tongue:

Not to worry, at least it doesn’t stop me running, I feel bad for those having real problems with their cars :frowning:

See everyone tomorrow!
