Anyone interested in an Isle of Man meet?
Best regards,

Anyone interested in an Isle of Man meet?
Best regards,
Damien.
thats a good idea.
Not been in the club that long less than a year, but my question is what does the gtouk club do with the money it makes?
Funds this website for one plus all the beer and food at meets plus all those gazebos ye shelter under etc etc etc etc
Mike
arrrr i best get my arse over to the uk then and get involved in these meets.
As Mike says - all the club equipment that can be seen at the big events, and other smaller events that said equipment is borrowed for… the club trailer, BBQ equipment etc… and also the food & drink at some of the events. There are also the costs of the website & forums, and of course, the membership packs and cost associated with that (printing and postage for example).
Oh, and yes, you should
jsut can be alittle difficult / expensive to come over for a meet! a typical ferry trip from the isle of mann can hit £200 quid! then fuel, then hotel would work out a pretty expensive meet! i will do it one day thou. they do sound fun! and free food and drink is always a plus!
Maybe a meet should come to you See if you can wangle group discount on ferrys and i will see what we can do this end in view of numbers
Mike
Now then… that sounds like a plan! After all, we did take (some of) GTO UK to the Isle of Wight for Rus!
Dam right! perfect place for a meet here! the world famous open road TT course (“coughs” no speed limits out side built up areas) A small tarmac track so we do organise a track day. PLENTY of pubs and a very safe place to run these cars.
I could organise a discount on the boats and i have a friend with a nice clean hotel in douglas.
Or if anyone just fancy a trip over let me know and i’ll help out in any which way i can! (dont come over in jan, feb everything seems to be closed and dead here!)
Was over for the TT, uh… , a few years ago… still have nightmares about the mountain section… Kawasaki GPz1100 flat out. The back tyre was so hot, I managed to set a 50p in it, and it went in far enough to be flush… I’m quite sure the Grim Reaper was riding pillion that day.
Anyway, what’s this hotel then? I might be up for a trip out
the moutain is a bit scary and especially in our cars at 150 racing a copper on a sunday morning! haha Hotel is called the Glen Mona Hotel and is situated on the Douglas prom, all the local bars and shops within walking distance and the hilton hotel is 2 minute walk if that and you have the casino and a nice bar for drinks at night. They’ve owed the hotel for about 8 years now and have fully refurbed it. be cheaper than the other local hotels and they have a licenced bar inhouse too.
If anyone is thinking of coming over for the TT this year (100th TT) u’ll be lucky to get over! most of the hotels are all booked up and most of the camp sites are fully booked! i would be able to help a couple of u out as i have plenty of carpet space u can crash out on, just let me know if u are wanting to come over! Should be a Great TT this year! they modded the course slightly (new faster corners made etc etc) and the price money is crazly high.
I really do think we should do a national meet there when it is quiet there and it should be cheaper and there will be more space.
how about we invite the FTO boys too?
Or even have a UK Mitsubishi meet there?
What do you think?
Cheers Rob
I have both Fto and 3000gt! so I’m 100% in doing anything i can to get as many of you over here as possible!
I can organise more aless anything, things like 4x4, any water sports (jetskiing waterskiing, wake boarding or fishing) as i’m in a lucky position and have access to all these toys! My father has a purpose built 4x4 course and i could easily get hold of a few landrovers to play in for the afternoon! The isle of man does have alot to offer. If you put any ideas down i’ll try and see what i can organise!
Be really nice to have a IOM gathering, really fantastic scenes on the island and plenty of friendly people who would welcome you all.
I would also organise something with the police to make your trip even more enjoyable!

Find out about ferry prices first as i think the price may end up being a sticky point, either at the beginning of summer or towards the end as there are a few bigger shows in the UK which may clash with dates.
pm me the prices and i will start an organising thread once we know the relevant dates we have to choose from. Get prices say on ten to fifteen cars as i reckon this number should be no problem acheiving
Mike
Leave it with me, i have the promotions / event organiser calling me back this afternoon with regards to 10 / 15 vehicles coming over. This person is in charge of doing deals / setting the price and helps fudding for clubs / events and the use of ferrys. fingers crossed! I’ll post when i have a update.
Last time I was on the Costa Packet ferries, the boarding ramps were VERY steep… worth checking out for a lot of the members cars, as they are quite low at the front…
they changed it now! but i know what your saying thou! only bad if the sea is rough! but that time of year isnt so bad. I will mention it thou as its been close to me in the past!
talk about not wanting to do business! shocks me how some ppl just dont want to know! apartently she can not or isnt willing to do anything for this club due to the lack of numbers and more importantly and i quote
“it will not encourage other people to travel with us and the low numbers u are talking about i can not do anything!” and,
“The best thing to do is to book online and u’ll save £12 per car!” So its looking like £180 for a car and two.
only other thing i can suggest is getting a Committee member to Ring Pam Clarke and see if they can do any better as you’ll have a better “club-hat” on u and probably talk better to this lady than i can.
if any Gtouk committee member would like to call this lady then pls Pm me and i’ll give you the correct telephone number.
I’ve has this problem before to be honest… 10 or 15 doesn’t seem to be enough to interest the ferry companies. Pity really, but there you go.
