Logging Cables

thanks for ya help

Drago, just seen a pic of your car on another post. I notice you have a l plate Mk2. This may cause you some problems. There are 3 types of diagnostic port, OBD1 for mk1 cars, obd11 for mk2’s and a hybrid which was used on most 94-95 mk2’s.

There is only one place I know of that does logging software / cables for the hybrid. They are in the states and I think charg $250 for the software / cable.

Use this link.

Hmm… Can you tell me how to check which mine is please?

got ya e-mail and had a scout round the footwell. Cant find this connector anywhere. So mine is not the hybrid. Its a 1993 mk2 so can I get a lead for it?

Thanks Chris

Please can you or dave post the e-mail so i can check mine. I have a 95 mk1.

I’ve PM’d you.

I never received a pm. lol

Can you re-send?

Dave

When we next meet up can you remind to remember not to forget to tell me to ask you (!!!) about Data Logging, I have a PDA and haven’t got a clue how to go about setting it up for this. maybe we could swap some info when I fit your bushes.

see you

Graham

ps. did the wheels go on OK?

Wheel nuts, thats all I can say.

It turned out my wheel nuts were the wrong type for those wheels so I am waiting for a set to arrive from Phil, fingers crossed, not been able to get out since as the car is stood still.

On a plus side the bushes are here along with my new springs

As for the logging I’ll sort out a cable etc for you and show you how to use it etc.

Dave

Dave cheers mate my cables arrived this morning.
Robert.

hi dave,

I interested your datalogger cable, but I need to know that your cable have external power wire plug into the fuse box to get the power?

because, I used Sony SJ series & need the external power to power on the internal COM circuit.

what’s the laptop CD included?

if anything ready, what’s payment method, shipping charge? I’m outside UK, my location is Hong Kong! 8)

Hi Dave,

1 of each please with ECU plugs as I’m not a fan of the spade fittings,

Cheers

Still searching for the ECU plugs I’m affraid. I have one here (its the same as the one that goes into the back of the ECS / rear de-mister switch on the dash).

However with the switch built into the cable (its in the 9 pin headshell) the cable can be left connected to the car at all times. I have mine routed through the dash and then coming out under the arm rest in the centre console. I dont use spades any more but I have found some good fitting crimps which do not bend etc when fitting them.

Hi Dave,

Just to let you know that the cable I got from you works great.

I routed it behind the dashboard and drilled a hole in the back of the glove box, where it comes through and sits there untill I need to use it.

Laptop on the passenger seat, open glove box and connect.

Cheers

John

hi johnzx, would you PM me some photos how you mount your cable in the glove box?

thanks

Hi,

Its not actually mounted in the glove box, it just comes through a hole I drilled in the back wall of the glove box, with about 2 ft of cable spare, so I open the glove box and pull out the cable and connect to the laptop which is sitting on the passenger seat. I can send a picture if you want, but you may have misunderstood what I had done, all I did was drill a hole.

Cheers

John

Hi Dave,

I’d be interested in one of these probably just out of interest to see whats going on etc. The car is a 97 3000GT though, did I read somewhere on the site these couldn’t be logged?

Cheers,
Sam

Hi

Wow this is an old thread

As for your car it can be logged using a hybrid setup. Contact Neil at HHH (banner add at the top of the forum) as he does the hybrid system.

Cheers
Dave

Cheers Dave.

Only just noticed how old the thread is
