New member - thinking of joining the GT club and would appreciate some advice

Completely agree @ms8leach every time I get her out or put her back in the garage I always look at her and smile. One thing my dad always says you can’t put a price on your enjoyment

You guys are a good influence. Will get the car inspected and see if he might take a bit less.

Where do you go for servicing? Are there good independents your recommend?

There was a £20,000 Green one in Ireland recently that sold for £20,000 and they made him pay for the cam belt kit and labour too

Now lives in Scotland in a snuggly garage being pampered by its new owner

Hi Rob,
In the end it was around the 14k but is definitely being pampered up here!
(Would be good to find a specialist within several hundred miles of here to help look after it though)!

Ravi, I spent months looking for one good enough. Go have a look at it- if its as good as it looks, you wont regret it! :grinning:

To be honest cars in the Republic of Ireland fetch a bit more than in the Uk.

My old dears Mini that she imported as a personal vehicle to the ROI when she moved there would fetch £6.5k to a generous £7 here.

She is looking at 13,000 euro if she sells it over there, it’s worth noting she couldn’t sell it for 12 months after first taking it there due to personal import laws.

Hi Rob, was yours the one from Hollybrook? I saw that being advertised and they had a silver one that I was interested in but they wouldn’t budge in price. The green one looked mint, hadn’t it done less than 10,000 miles? Great car mate.

Well I’m new to the club and recently bought a GTO and paid £8400 for it.
That’s for a mk1 TT manual as well, but I have to say its an outstanding example with thousands and thousands spent on a comprehensive restoration.
The age and mark of the car wasn’t relevant to me, condition, proof of investment and servicing was.

Wow that looks lovely, love that maroon colour, congrats mate.

I have arranged a vehicle inspection by a Specialist firm for Wednesday, say they have inspected a lot of 3000GT and measure paint thickness etc so hopefully will know if she is a good one - fingers crossed.

Good luck mate. The car you’re looking it looks and seems fantastic. If I hadn’t got mine I’d certainly be looking at that one.
My feeling is though at that price it would be for sale for a few months and he would certainly be reducing sometime soon. Not saying its not worth it, but it is top dollar for a 3000GT and so really needs to be spot on. I understand the risk of waiting though, yes you could lose out to somebody else. I did wait and sure enough my car was reduced by £2k over 1 night. Then I went in and offered even less!
I still wouldn’t have paid anywhere near my price (£8.4k) unless it was pretty much 100% as described (fully restored), but as always now I’ve owned it for a few weeks I have found a few minors that I wasn’t told about, but that’s cars!!
Keep the forum posted, I’m sure we’re all interested.
