Nurburgring Trip 2007

Now, I posted one like this last year, and got some response but nothing transpired and we ended up going alone again. So, I say again, we will probably be returning to the ring for the 3rd time in June/July 2007.

Is anybody interested in a long weekend trip just to the ring in these months next year? If so, this is the way we have done it twice now, it saves time on using the ferry.

  • Meet at Eurotunnel terminal at Folkstone at around 10am.

  • Chugg through the tunnel on the train, pop out the other side in calais. The train takes 30 mins to Calais, so we would arrive in Calais at around 12:30 CET. Go straight onto the E40… The route we take lets us swing around Brussels on the 1 way system, if we go into Brussels, we may never come out again

  • The journey takes around 4 hrs upon joining the E40, including 1 petrol stop and a break if needs be. We would therefore arrive in Nurburg at approx 16:30. We would have time for a few laps before it gets dark.

  • The journey back is basically the journey out backwards

Tellyboy and I agree it would be nice to go with a few club members this time. If anybody is really interested in coming along feel free to say so in this thread, we understand this is a busy time of year due to school holidays etc etc. I will then make a list of people and we can sort it out nearer the time.

Tellyboy may have mentioned that I was his “map” as I know the every corner on the circuit off the top of my head. I will happily go out with anyone who is unsure of the track to help them out learning the corners and the lines.

Cheers,

Almo and Tellyboy
(Alex and Ian. :D)

I’m coming. I’ve always wanted to do this, and the date you chose should see me with the bhp figure I want. I will also have saved enough to actually go

I’ll learn the track from GT4 as I understand it’s fairly accurate, and gives me a good excuse to sit there playing a computer game.

The problem with this trip will be timing. The 2007 Speedball will also be running in July so that may detract the numbers. Also I will be going again and trying to organise a trip for April. Although at present its only chat off the forum but we have about half a dozen interested in going.

Brendan

I think there must be a few conversations about a run to the Nurburgring! Am up for it but understand April may be a blind time to book as their calendar of events doesnt get issued until march next year? i could be wrong

Mike

the ring calendar is released the end of feb so we have to wait a while.

I’ve just had a look at the ‘Ring’ on Google Earth, quite good detail here and you can follow the course, gives a good idead of the length of the course and how it snakes through the countryside.

The co-ords are 50deg 20’ 11’’
6deg 57’ 00’’

Repeat: If anybody wants to organize a trip for April they are welcome to try, but since the calendar does not come out until the end of February this would be well nigh impossible or a best a shot in the dark.

I forget how many times I have said that.

If there is ‘chat off the forum’ lets get it on the forum so we all know what’s going on please. Alternatively forget it and we will just go on our own.

Ian.

Yep up for this next year. How many nights did you stay as I don’t fancy an 8 hour drive then trying the ring??

Did you do an organised trip or just yourselves??

Ian, why do you have to be so aggresive in your reply, at present several of the guys say they are up for a trip next year, say April. Like you say until the calender comes out you can’t really confirm anything. If past performance is anything to go by when we put a post up every one will say “yeah, I’m up for that.” But when the time comes to pay they drop out.

I will put a post up, everyone will be invited, but deposit will be required immediately so we know there wont be any time wasters. Off course there is bnothing wrong in organising a second event for July.

Brendan

I may fancy this also, might take my good lady, would also like to know the answer to the above.

Julian.

Ok I’ll outline a few bits and bobs.

If we went on the saturday we would get to the ring around 4-5pm (GMT+1)

We stay 3 nights including Saturday night. We have a full track day on the Sunday. On Sunday the track opens at 8am (ish). On the Monday the ring opens at 1pm usually. So we have monday morning for cruising around adenau and the going to the Nurburgring Museum etc etc. We head home on tuesday morning at around 10 or 10:30.

It costs about 12 euros for a lap but everybody gets a multi lap ticket, it works out better value anyway.

Can I suggest that anyone talking about the July/August trip to the ring with Tellyboy and myself puts July at the top of their post as im getting a bit confused  :?

Guys I notice are interested so far are below:

Wario
Miller
Jrp
Deano

Cheers,

Alex.

We did it for fractionally more than they quote, including all the petrol!

Nice… count me in

but did you get the full support and expert knowledge that the package offers?

booking hotels, meals, support vehicles, having the car checked over, ready made routes to the event and for tours would be worth quite a bit to a few people! makes it more relaxing if all the weight is on other peoples shoulders

No… but everything was fine

Alex.

I’m interested in this.

There’s a thread in the 3si.org forum about organizing a european 3000GT/GTO/Stealth meeting in 2007. The Nürburgring would be a perfect spot for something like that because it’s central for all europeans and of course it’s the most interesting location for sportscar drivers.

Any interest here for such a meeting? Anyone willing to help organize?

Second thread hijack

hardly a hijack, more like an extension to the idea, and a worthy one at that.

And unless you lighten the ■■■■ up, no-one is gonna want to go with you anyway
