the date for the ring opening next year are not out yet
i would be will to help in getting this event off the ground but will need to know what people want and when they want to go

It would not be possible to hold a European GTO meet there as there simply isn’t the room for it, nor is there the hotel space. To try and hold such a thing there on a public day, which it would have to be, would be a disaster.
I do, however, have a contact who might rent half a dozen or so of us a house with garages literally on the doorstep of the track, I mean, like 200 yards.
The only banker weekend without the calendar is Easter weekend and to be quite frank you are welcome to it because the world and his wife knows about it.
Unless someone else knows better, of course…

i wasnt thinking that the euro met was at the ring but somewhere they had arranged between themsleves and we would gatecrash

Potential dates out 7th July, back 10th July. On the track all day Sunday 8th and most likely PM on Monday 9th. The morning of the 9th will allow visits to the Nurburgring Museum and getting rid of hangover etc.
I want it to coincide with the arrival of the Scumball Rally lot so they can see what a real nice car looks like!
Might shift a week either way dependant on the calendar, which, for the umpteenth time, is not out till Februray 2007.
Based on the above, I want the names of definite in’s. Maybes will not do.

err…that date refers to the JAE dates and you have to be a club member to bring a car into the showground…I assume that you want info on the Ring trip, which i have nothing to do with.

Having visited the Nürburgring regularly for the past six years I have learnt to expect all Touristenfahrten opening times to be provisional no matter when released, in the past even on the busiest days (eg Easter) they have changed opening times just a few days in advance. The dates released at the beginning of January are usually the minimum open days and quite often you can turn up on a listed “Closed” day to find it open.
Unless you plan to go on one of the busiest weekends it would be worth keeping an eye on the http://www.nuerburgring.de calendar.
I’m sure the http://www.thenurburgringexperience.co.uk do a sterling job but why not organise it yourself, its all very easy. A cheap channel crossing & accommodation are both easy to find and book, make sure you have euro breakdown cover and travel insurance then all you have to do is find the place, its as simple as that. For those who have never been before there is plenty of advice to found in the main car park or at least pop over to Bens site http://nurburgring.org.uk/ for a start.
As for going over in your 306… If its your first visit its probably a very good choice of car to take, quite often people who turn up for their first Nürburgring trip in fast cars can let pride take over from common sense, this quickly becomes red mist which can lead to a very expensive Armco bill. If its your first visit to the Ring your going to get swiftly overtaken by some cars that shouldn’t be able to keep up let alone get passed no matter what you are driving, so a 306 is a ideal car for a first time out.
