Redline TOTB 6 29th July 2007

Ok its that time once again.

This year i would like to enter a full team of running motors for the first time in 2 years.

So who is going to be in the this years team of 5.

Well we have a GTOUK league table and this is what we are going to use for this years event.

I would like to build a team of 5 cars with a couple of reserves.

1. benh - 11.361 @ 124.73 mph
1991 GTO Twin Turbo
Santa Pod

**2. Mike_ - 11.985 @ 121.38 mph **
1992 GTO Twin Turbo
York Dragway

3. moses - 12.08 @ 115.29 mph
1990 GTO Twin Turbo
RAF Woodbridge

4. jaitch - 12.139 @ 120.32 mph
1993 GTO Twin Turbo
Santa Pod

5. GTO NEMESIS - 12.14 @ 118 mph
1992 GTO Twin Turbo
Shakespear County

6. Mark Beales - 12.30 @ 115 mph
1993 GTO Twin Turbo
Elvington Airfield

7. demondell - 12.541 @ 114.28 mph
1994 3000GT
Shakespear County Raceway

8. Dave Naxton - 12.74 @ 101 mph
1991 GTO Twin Turbo
Elvington Airfield

These are the top 8 fastest cars in the club.

So these are the boys to beat.

If the members listed above arn’t interested in attending then the list will move up.

The only way to get in this team is to beat these lads times and rise up the ranking.

Any questions ask away.

Dave

Can the members listed about please confirm if they are interested or not.

Also please confirm if you have a car that is currently on the road and running.

And last of all if you are a member that has a better confirmed time then shout out.

Myself and Dell have to get a better time to be considered as the event qualifying time is 12.5 or below.

Dave

Yes, TOTB already have my money from last year after the payment received mix up. My place was carried over to 2007 so I don’t know how that would effect the team placings?

Nope, I am flying out to the US to collect custom Rods, Pistons & crank on 28th Feb. I plan to hit the track on 15th April.

However the times stack up, my car isn’t being built for the 1/4 mile.

The high speed run is where my interest lies, my mission is to do the first 200+ MPH run in a GTO.
The handeling circuit is also fun and as I came 1st out of the GTO’s when I run last time, I don’t see why that would change in 2007! (Oooh! Fighting talk  )

I’m sure it will be a great event!

Mark

I agree using the fastest 1/4 mile times is a good way to go.

However, just a friendly observation
No ‘dates set’ are listed so it is perfectly possible for a time from ages ago with no recent(last 2 years) runs to back it up.
Please note…I am not saying that is currently the case…just an observation.

Also, another observation. This is a 3 part event. The 1/4mile is just one of the 3 disciplines. To get anywhere in this event, you need an all round car, not just a 1/4mile monster.

How about it been if you match a time set above, it’s the most recent that counts, and if they are set on the same day, the car with the best overall ‘package’ for the event is the one chosen to take part.

What is the cut off date for setting times?

Well done for getting this up nice and early giving people a chance to ‘make the grade’

Marty
Ps. I will, of course, be trying to improve my times to make it…

A valid point. Shall we use the 2006 - 2007 league table for a starting point.

No set date as yet as we are only sending the emails out today.

Ok. There will a couple of qualifing days being held this year in the run up to the day. I will post these days and we can see the men from the boys on all 3 events…

Dave

P.s This year we are going to have 5 good cars if it kills me…

i may be interested in this, would i be considered?
getting some new wheels soon when i can decide which ones i like an if they will fit?

Hi Paul,

Yes it has to be proven prior to the event.

This event is for the cream from every car club.

With only 5 places to fill, we must make sure that we place the correct vehicles within the team.

As Dave says, you would have to prove it before entry.
Will yours do better than 12.5?

I would think probably mid to low 13’s, but anything is possible.
Go to a track and try…

Marty

Dave,
Can you remind us of this years entry fees please?
Thanks
Marty

Dam that extra .041 sec on my best & .74sec on yours Dave :frowning:

My cars still running really well, & I believe on the right day it would beat the 12.5 rule.
I would have loved to give TOB my best effort.
However, i’m sorry to say that I will be unable to take my car to the drag strip any time soon.

I wish, All the very Best of Luck, to the fab 5 that get to do their stuff 8)

End of press release

Ten of The Best www.totb.co.uk
200Plus Club - www.200plusclub.co.uk

Hi All,

We are hoping to provide some tyre support at TOTB (tyre changing / balancing van etc) if enough interest, and also have specific tyres available through Toyo in the 888 range of track tyres at a discount price to competitors, either prior to the event or to buy/have fitted on the day. Obviously this will require a bit of support/feedback from competitors / teams if its going to be worth doing both options, rather than just having a tyre change facility on its own for competitors.

We’d aim to have a range of tyres available in all popular sizes but also provide the specific ones that people will use if they needed them and had pre-ordered/bought etc.

This is aimed at supporting the competitors at the event and through the build up and we appreciate it wont cover every car or choice of tyre type needed for the event, but would provide a decent track biased tyre for the road car classes.

Any info appreciated

Regards
Dave

dave- if i qualify for this, ie fast enough and car running ok by the cut off date -would i be considered for your gto totb team. The reason i ask is i dont want waste valuable time, money and energy like last year only to be overlooked.

all the best mike

Put me down as a reserve.

The cars up and running now (sounds “monstrous” according to Marty  ) - but is unlikely to be running at full power long enough before this event for me to get enough run times in at SCR to prove it’s running abilities - or if I do then it will probobly be after the team is decided.

Would love to compete - but I usually have bad luck and not good - so somethings bound to creep in and put a spanner in the works for this for me.
