Sky Insurance

Picked up my GTO today and insured it through Sky through this forums recommendation.

They beat the nearest by over £200, so am very happy, its costing me less than I was paying for my 55 plate CTR!

My credentials are:-

Male 39
10 years ncb protected
Jap import GTO TT V6 etc
After market Stainless steel exhaust declared.
Private car park
Cat 2 immobiliser
£541 fully comp + legal cover

Looks like they just saved me £150 quid over my current insurers… I’m quite pleased with that…

25 years old
GTO Twin turbo import
23 mods or whatever it is
4 years protected NCB
6 year licence

£891.

willsave me £100 when I renew mine but I recon I can get it down further after comparing it to some of your qotes , 41, clean license protected no claims £250 excess ,£490] .

I only joined the club a day or so ago (will be posting my full membership forms off soon) and I already use Sky. I’ve found them to be one of the cheapest around to be honest.

Unfortunately, they never sent me out any details or confirmation, so I stayed with my previous insurers. I did beat the previous ones up with the Sky quote though, and they matched it anyway… so I guess I still won with Sky, even though I didn’t actually use them… :?

Scott was very helpful indeed, just as everybody has decribed already!

Cheers
Ok, I’m now insured with Sky, so the vital statistics are:

Male 42
9 years ncb protected
Uk 3000gt mods declared
Garaged
£441 fully comp + legal cover
I’ve just renewed mine and my premium is identical.
I’ve dropped the “agreed value” part as it has doubled from £35 to over £70.

ok guys,

I work in car insurance myself, so knew where to look…

there are lots of different aspects to consider when getting insurance, someone with the same NCB and age may pay half or double what you do due to postcode, experience, job etc etc…

so for some idea here is my details…

insurance advisor
B60 postcode
23 yrs old (male)
3yrs NCB
mods : 19s (worth £600), exhaust inc de-cat, and dump valve
FULLY COMPREHENSIVE inc mods (PEOPLE WHO DON’T DECLARE MODS MAY AS WELL BE PUTTING THEIR MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!!!)

top 3 companies (ONLY WANTED COMPREHENSIVE SO NO QUOTES TPFT:-

£877 ■■■■■■ doodley500xs (mods declare but not like for like cover)
£989 onehorseytrap 500xs (mods declared and covered like for like)
£1045 someyoutubevid 500xs (mods declared and covered like for like)

HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF YOU GUYS…

I could have deleted this post but i thought i’d just edit the bits that were blatantly advertising your company instead.
Should you wish to advertise here, please pay us the courtesy of asking first ! [MAS]

i work for none of the companies i mentioned…

why can some people mention sky etc…

all i was offering was some help in lowering premiums and advice if anyone wanted any.

never mind,

anyway, at least the premiums remain so you can gauge what sort of premiums you should be paying…

It’s like this; We have a club policy of banning/deleting spam because next to this government it’s one of the most disgusting things on the planet. You, as a first time poster, are trying to tell me that you have just come on here out of the goodness of your heart to mention another unknown insurance company but of course it’s not the one which you represent !
Club members can and are encouraged to put forward good offers from companies, we would never discourage that.
As for Sky, they approached us and asked about advertising/promotion. They were polite in their request and have given many club members a good deal, what more can i say about them.
Obviously not everyone will get the best deal from just one company, it will never happen so we have an open mind on generalising this topic.
However, as a club we don’t take kindly to what can be deemed as unauthorised advertising.
Courtesy and manners cost nothing.

Regards, Mark.

point taken… i agree with the comments on spam and can see how it looked like an attempt at advertising a company.
btw the top company I found are on the list of insurance companies posted by another member. They are one of about 100 on there though. Best to leave a day spare for ringing around.

i think to summarise it is best to ring as many companies as possible when sorting out the best deal. As you can see the difference between the top 3 companies I found (out of a fair few) was almost £200!!!

picked up my gto TT yesterday. great fun.

regards,
Dave

No good for me this time either.

It’s insurance time for me again and Im practicly unquotable Sky said.

They are no longer doing agreed valuations - my car’s mod list is way larger than they like to deal with - and I didnt even mention the amount of points I have on my license.

Might give Osbourns a ring - otherwise I’ll be staying with Liverpool Victoria for another year (£650 ish for a £10K valuation and **unlimited **modifications )

For a car that does less than 1000 miles a year thats still alot of money tho…

Adam

Ive got sky, guy on the phone was great, price cheapest 800 fully comp, includes like for like parts replacement on mods, 1 years no claims (ex company car driver), good service, understands performance and modified market well, mods declared air filter, ss exaust, tein super streets, dump valve.

4 years ncb
garaged
cat 1
5000 miles py
including comuting but never needs to be used
with 1 sp30
1 no fault accident (nob ran into me when parked)

£300 ex

primium £421

could not even get a quote of a lot

well got my quote in today £586 with 9 years ncb insured under my wifes name shes 34 and im 42 thought it was a bit dear after seeing some quotes on here plus the’ve taken my agreed valuation off :frowning:
cars only used mostly at the weekends and for shows plus ive still to add my fmic ,uprated fuel pump, fpr and ebc ,on as modifications. ill need to do some shopping about

Not the best place to get insurance from anymore i dont think but i am with them for anoughter year after they priced matched again for the 2nd year. cant see why they cant offer the good price in the first place.

1year was £1650
2year was £1440 but priced matched to £1060
this year was £1090 but priced matched to £840

still think its outrageus seeing im 25, 5 years no claims, and its a stupid 187bhp n/a powered car

still much cheaper for a 3000gt tt

**Good quote for me, £441.00 fully comp with an SP30, replace like for like, protected no-claims and £250 excess.

Not bad methinks.

David**
