Sky Insurance

Just took out a policy with Sky:

25 years old, 6 yrs NCD (protected)
GTO TT import
Mods declared
Fully comp

£811

Not bad, considering my current insurers (A-plan) wanted almost £1200!

I also got a quote on a standard GTO and it was pretty high, I gave some examples of the prices listed on the board inc Mas’ post and they said they have never ever provided a quote below £300 for a GTO :?

Mark [/quote]

My policy was as i stated in the somewhere above post, I am 125 years old though.

Mark.

i just rang them and got my new mondeo 1.8lx pub car insured using the gtouk club discount scheme  second car so no real no claims £350 TPFT.

I have just taken out insurance with Sky.

I spoke to Scott (cheers mate! ) and he came back with £421 fully comp, with Andrea on the policy, all mods declared.

I am extremely happy  as this is £200 cheaper than my renewal quote from Adrian Flux, and has half the excess!!

Just for reference:

40
11 years protected no claims
Clean licence
Car on Drive
Cat 1

Thanks to GTOMAS, and everyone else for their feedback.

Regards,
Steve the well chuffed!

This is weird, I called Sky and A-Plan, both quotes were with Ensign Insurance, but A-Plan worked out £100 cheaper, so I went with them in the end (£530).

So still worth ringing around.

THEY WONT INSURE ME!

LOOKS LIKE I WONT BE ABLE TO GET A GTO AFTER ALL!

Just transferred to Sky. £341 for a 1992 TT de-restricted but no mods. But I suppose the real value will show if I make a claim. People I dealt with were friendly and knowledgable and everything was by return of post.

Max no claim bonus
Mods allowed
Wife 29 with prior accident

Fully comp with proteced no claims £695.

Seven years no claims (protected)
18" wheels declared

With Ensign apparently (any good?)

Also full breakdown cover for £49.95, and an agreed price of £5000 for £35.

This seemed pretty good to me as my renewal quote came in at £690 with a £550 excess from Kwik Fit (Highway)

BTW is the data base to upload your insurance details not working any more as it gave me an error message :?:

Nigel, which database is giving the error? Do you have a link please?

Steve

This one that Spedley put up http://cv32.com/GTOUK/Insurance2.html

Gives me a fatal error, but too quick to read it all

Nige

Got a quote yesterday from Sky Insurance for my Standard UK 3000GT.

29yrs old, 7yrs NCD(protected), DN4 postcode, <5000 miles per year, £5500 value of car.

£441 with £350 excess.

This beats my best quote with Privilege of £614, so looks like I’ll be changing soon!

Just took my policy out with Sky, they destroyed the competition. Spoke to Scott who quoted me ages ago and signed myself up for 12 months:

23 years old male
PO15 post code
Twin Turbo import
Alarm and immobiliser
Mods declared
1 fault accident 4-5 years ago
3 years NCB

£980, including agreed value and full breakdown cover (Includes Europe)

Most places heard the words ‘import’ and ‘modified’ and refused to quote me

Anyone had chance to peruse a Sky Insurance Terms and Conditions yet - anything in there which a potential customer should be aware of? ie: extortionate cancellation rates, high interest on premium paid monthly etc. etc.? Does it all look FAIR?

The monthly payments are through a finance company, and the interrest rate is well over 20% (27.9% I seem to remember). You’d be better off banging it on a credit card and increasing monthly payments to suit .

this is what i do, then transfer the balance = free loan.

Ok, I’m now insured with Sky, so the vital statistics are:

Male 42
9 years ncb protected
Uk 3000gt mods declared
Garaged
£441 fully comp + legal cover

Exactly what I just did

49 on Friday
Outside with CCTV
Cat1 (obviously)
3 points for naughty boy speeding (not in the TT)
all mods declared
£386 fully comp with legal and 9 years protected NCD

Nicked the NCD from my 2.3 VW Bora (for sale) and did that for £299 on credit card to avoid the horrendous charges for monthly. Bora to be replaced with motorised roller skate.
