Ten of the Best 27th July
Phew!!.. as everyone has said it was a bit on the ‘warm’ side to say the least, and yes we all look like lobsters today, but it was most definitely worth it!

I think we have two of best ‘launches’ of a GTO/3000gt in Ben and Dell that GTOUK has ever seen!.. ‘well done guys’ you both did an awesome job 8) … Me, I was stuck with the family as per usual defending our spot from intruders  and got totally engrossed in the 1/4 mile action, so much so I missed out meeting more of you guys :frowning: … but next year if TOTB is still running I will try and rectify that!

I also got some Vids and soon as I get time I’ll post them up

Once again ‘Very well done’ Ben, Dell and all who supported you throughout the day!

Red faced, Martyn
Thanks for that Martyn 8)

Your Videos are great Too :bandance:

Cheers

We had a really mixed day. 100% compulsory noise testing. Limit 103 dbs for the road class cars, 112 for pro and proven 10 sec street cars. i knew i wouldnt pass 103, but i should have been able to go in for the higher (undisclosed before event day) limit. Nah. Have to ‘book’ that in advance. Of course i hadnt!

Not that it mattered because on the noise test i came in at 114db!

Hey Ben

How did they do the sound test - rpm? distance? angle?

James

They stuffed it right at the end of the exhaust, about 6 inches away.

I would say that they measured wrong - 6 inches is certainly too close - should be around 0.5 m which would knock dB down to 105 from 114. Rpm is important too as is knowing how to correctly noise test.

All academic really but what is the point of noise testing if they don’t do it correctly?

I think that is why noise testing is not in the MOT because it is to difficult.

James

In the rules they said 75% of max rpm, at 0.5m and 90 degrees from the tail pipe.

As tracy says, what they actually did was a flat 5500 for everyone and stuff it right up the fappin pipe!

Cheers,

Ben.
