Ten of the Best 27th July

Well my road trip starts tomorrow. Up North for a wedding, then straight over on saturday for tech.

You guys are all staying at the poole premier inn right? We’ll be over at the airfield. Last year the skyline boys were doing shopping trolley races down the main runway and some geezer landed a little plane and asked for directions! No ■■■■!

Cheers,

Ben.

If you are competing, yeah you can get in, but its no public camping. I’d say come on with us, but we have a ‘pit crew’ of about 20 already.

Cheers,

Ben.

scott

That will probably work. Just turn up, tell security you are part of whatever team and then just dont go too mental, should be fine.

Cheers,

Ben.

Bit late in replying but I took this from the TOTB website:

**Address:
Elvington Aerodrome, Halifax Way, Elvington, York, YO41 4AU

How to Find us?
From the York by-pass, take the Hull exit (A1079) and then immediate right to Elvington (B1228).**

See ya there!
PS: I’ll be the one with Factor 60 on…pale?..what me?..I have a part-time job as a cricket screen!

Just got back, what a scorcher! 8)

Was good to see a few more GTOs there this year, it’s been a bit lonely the past few years…! And I think it’s the first time in 3 years that another GTO was running apart from Ben! Well done Dell!

Congrats to Ben & co as well, given the annoying noise restrictions, I think things went as well as could be expected. No records set, but I don’t think they’ll be long in coming…

Can’t wait to see what Ben’s car can do when it doesn’t blow a pipe off at over 2 bar…:!:

Gav (now off to apply liberal amounts of after-sun)

Afew piccies from todays TOTB, I think I have sun stroke 8) & there were some massively powerful cars there

Julian.

WHAT A DAY!!!  WHAT A F**KING HOT DAY!!!

Had a top time, just downloading all the pics & vids off my camera now, will be putting a thread up in general with them and my thoughts asap!!

Pete

Well it was certainly an experiance!

gotta say i wasnt impressed by the totb organisation this time round- we got so many mixed messages it wasnt true, but the day itself was amazing!

Some really nice cars there and some really crazily fast stuff. Olly clarke was baninging out 1.5 sec 60’s all day as far as i could make out.

Dell did fantasitcally on the handling circuit and out on the strip. Not only that but he drove the car there, and home all in one bit, and that as those who have done the event know, takes some doing!

We had a really mixed day. 100% compulsory noise testing. Limit 103 dbs for the road class cars, 112 for pro and proven 10 sec street cars. i knew i wouldnt pass 103, but i should have been able to go in for the higher (undisclosed before event day) limit. Nah. Have to ‘book’ that in advance. Of course i hadnt!

Not that it mattered because on the noise test i came in at 114db!

Lots of scavenging and drilling later an sporting an exhaust bung with a 1 and a half inch hole in it from a blown up MR2 (Thank you so much!! 8) ) it passed noise at 99db.

Just one problem though- naff all power out of a pipe that size! At 50% duty cycle i was only just pushing 1.3 bar. The TPS sh@t itself, but luckily Mick was on hand with his car for it to be ‘borrowed’! Managed an 11.2 or something.

Without saying too much, their was then a freak exhaust related incident that miraculously cleared the restriction created by the bung

And it went off like a fappin rocket! Going down the strip i could see bonnet and sky! One of the I/C pipes blew off at around the 1/8th and i coasted over the line for a 10.91 @114. If it hadnt, who knows!

That was the end of the day for me, with only 30 mins to run i didnt have time for the bay to cool enough to clamp the bangalor back down.

So we had a great day out, great to see so many faces their and as always thank you all for your help!

Shame about the noise restriction being so low. Put a real dampner on it for a lot of people and many couldnt run at all. Hey ho, already though of a way round it for next year.

Cheers,

Ben.

Phew!!.. as everyone has said it was a bit on the ‘warm’ side to say the least, and yes we all look like lobsters today, but it was most definitely worth it!

I think we have two of best ‘launches’ of a GTO/3000gt in Ben and Dell that GTOUK has ever seen!.. ‘well done guys’ you both did an awesome job 8) … Me, I was stuck with the family as per usual defending our spot from intruders  and got totally engrossed in the 1/4 mile action, so much so I missed out meeting more of you guys :frowning: … but next year if TOTB is still running I will try and rectify that!

I also got some Vids and soon as I get time I’ll post them up

Once again ‘Very well done’ Ben, Dell and all who supported you throughout the day!

Red faced, Martyn

…what, like the “N” Reg Corsa that put in a 10.75sec 1/4 mile?! :?

Good day…HOT day!

Sorry I lost you at the end Julian but after talking to Dave I went and crashed out at the end of the 1/4mile hiding under my umbrella for fear of melting into a gelatinous mass!

Saw the Skyline take the Pro honours…with what I think was something in the late 8’s…although that seems a bit TOO fast and to be fair I was struggling to hear the commentator! :?
That said, the Skyline had been putting down 9’s for fun earlier in the day?!?

Cheers
Neil
