Frizzell give you extra discount for being a CSMA (Civil Service Motoring Association) member. As a member you can also get cheap breakdown recovery. If you join mention me and we’ll both get a bonus .
Interesting how Quail Man got £200 discount for adding his dad to the policy. Might have to try that one (shame I dont have a Granddad :!: ).

There’s the proof, then. As many of us have said: unless you’re rich it pays to build up your NCD on a lower insurance group car before getting a GTO. And the reason the premiums are so high is because less experienced drivers are more likely to want to take the car near its limit and take chances in unsuitable conditions and, hence, have accidents - or get caught speeding.
Some quick tapping on a calculator gives the average age of contributors to this survey as 33.4
i still think they count how many maltesers they have and multiply it by hundred. becuase i cant understand now that with all this newfangled technology, they know exactly if you have had an accident or points or not in the years they ask, and still hit you for a kings ransom to issue a bit of A4 saying ‘YOUR INSURED!’.
also i think the insurers believe that becuase its an ‘import’ the parts are not available, yet mitsi will fully endorse a car made by them no matter what country its come from and give complete body and technical backup. insurance firms should do some homework then maybe the GTO might be as insurable as the 3000GT.

I have a service contract to maintain all the IT equipment at a company who is an intermediary between the brokers and the underwriters.
So I asked why are quotes so different? I was amazed at the answer. Underwriters have to balance income (new customers) with risk (What they might have to pay out) with in a given finicial period. this can change on what can be a daily basis, depending on how many new customers they want/need to meet a target, and what risk they are willing to take in order to take on those new customers. so, you can get an extortionate quote from one broker one day, only to have a better quote later due to the underwriter not meeting his target.
I was amazed at this, but can assure you it is true, but cant tell you when certain companies run their targets…some are weekly, some monthly, and some yearly. It really is a lottery, but this broker-intermediary did say that it was worth re-trying companies who have quoted high premiums in the past as they run a ‘sale’ to get new customers if they don’t reach targets.
The obvious is true though…if you live in a high risk area, and are a young guy with a high performance, imported and kitted-out car, you have SH*T IT!
