aahhhh looks good now thinking of skiving for the day! will make up numbers if need be and support the n/a corner!
Mike
My thoughts would be:
2 NAs - One modified mildly (most are) and one not.
2 Standard TTs - a Mk1 and a MK2
3 Modded TTs of all grades - BPM for one and up to scary on the other end
1 SC
Is there really an 8 car limit tho?
If we all get (say) 5 runs each then I cant see any difference in reducing that to 4 runs each.
You take it steady(ish) for the first two runs … then go balls out for the second two.
Might save a few transfer cases that way.
Discuss. However if I cant make it then I’ll be sure to let everyone know at the earliest oppurtunity. Like someone said … claiming a place and not turning up wont win any friends.
Adam
I dont suppose they will have enough space in the article for any more cars - like bryn said, its a set format for the event, the article is 14 pages with 8 cars competing - its not up to us to change this, its up to us to work around it.
I like Marcs idea - a range of cars from all models and levels of tune.
Adam, the paddock/pit area will only hold 8 cars apparently, which also means that any spectators will have to park elsewhere, or grab a lift to the event. Are you sure you want to rush the rebuild and then thrash it on a track with a partial tune?
I also like MSasson’s idea, and woul like to see Hukent running a stockish Mk1 NA auto, me in a Mk2 NA manual both stock and with nitrous turned on, plus Mark’s car with it’s supercharger. As for TTs, that would leave 5 places to be filled. Personally I’d love to see Mark Beales running, as his car has really come together since the end of last year and is certainly looking to run some new records at its next outing.

This sounds like a plan…
Sorry, but the eight car/four run format is they way it works. It takes time to swap timing gear and this has to be co-ordinated with having photos of each car taken. Plus more cars means more expense and a reduction in coverage for each driver and car. The ‘pit’ area we use can hold more cars, but like I said they work a rate out for us based on per car, per hour on track. So having ten cars parked up for spectators is a no go, plus insurance then becomes an issue. We have disclaimer forms for all, but as you can understand if our legal dept. expect our cars plus eight readers cars and a claim goes in for a Peugeot 306 owned by somebodies mate who popped along and went off the track wiping out a telegraph pole… Then we is in the shite.
So, I’ll leave it up to you to decide the most valid cars to represent the club.
Cheers, Bryn
The most important thing is commitment,
On this basis I think anyone who is a maybe should not be in the final list, or we need to run a reserve system.
Gon4a and I had several blasts up and down the 2 mile stretch plus a lap of the circuit in 2004, it is a great place to nail your motor in safety.
As a side note, did anyone see this months Jap Perf rag?
The Evo boys did a 30-130 mph challenge which is an excellent idea and something I would love to organise for our club.
Maybe we could do a 40-140 mph version?
If people are interesed I will look into it as this sort of event isn’t brutal on the cars.
Mark
I am 100% available for this, as i will either be coming off nights or on leave.
Mark, i would be interested in the rolling thrash, but i seem to remember that brunters is around £5k a day to hire!
maybe we can use the M1?
I like the idea of a range of cars…
Does this mean I am in or out then? Have booked a day off and agreed to spend cash on the exhaust…
I’d love to do it as well

Start another thread Mark as I think this is a superb idea.
So who is deciding what for this JTuner Thrash - it is called a thrash for a reason - it is not a car show. It is a car thrash!
James
I’m still very keen to do it.
Laps of Brands Hatch is one thing but, unlike a lot of you, I’ve no idea of my 0-60 or 1/4 mile time.
So, looking at the people who can really make it, we have:
Homer - MK2 NA with nitrous
Hukent - MK1 NA
Button Monkey - MK1 TT modded (not sure by how much?)
Roadkill - MK1 TT modded
DriveRob - MK1 TT lightly modded (just a boost controller right Rob?)
J@mes - MK1 3000GT standard
msassoon - MK1 SC modded (without a doubt :))
That leaves us one short, unless Mark and Jaitch want the last one. Is this about right?
Sorry if I am biased, but we need a good range, and I believe Mark’s is an example of the most extreme mods that we can find for a TT that is available. We have two NAs, one standard TT GTO, one standard 3000GT and two modded TTs at what level? We need to look at this and provide the last spaces to the best mix. Mine is the last, and I although biased, it is the only Supercharged car available at this time.
Thoughts please.
I think the quickest car availible in the club should have 1st choice of attendance - IE Mark Beales.
There will be very little difference between two lightly modded cars.
I am also of the OPINION (so don’t shout at me here) that people who have always tried to push the club forward and get the GTO’s noticed at the track should have preference over someone who has never shown any interest in doing any kind of track event before…
Eitherway I think you need one reserve because I don’t beleive that 8 GTO’s can get anywhere without one of them having an issue
Mark
 better get 2
But that shouldnt mean that people with standard cars (like myself) arent able to attend - the idea of the event is to have a broad range of tune stages to show what the cars ability is at different levels.
Just because some people dont have a bottomless pit to spend on their cars, doesnt mean they shouldnt be included. A bit like saying “if you havent spent £5k putting a kit on, you cant park on the club stand at events”.
I still think Marc has the best idea, although i do agree that we need some of the big guns there too.
And if people do commit and dont turn up, we are gonna look like a proper bunch of ■■■■■.
When did it become a maybe if I could make it or not?
Making a couple of exhaust inserts is a ½hr to 1hr job
Mark
Mark, just do what the rallying boys used to do,
stick Brillo pads up the exhaust, held in with wire,
pass the test, and take 'em out!
Well - I dont know how this will play out. I like Nemisis’s idea … but I can see how others would be upset if they got left out.
I am pulling all the stops out to get mine ready in time … and in all honesty I cant say it will be done - so if I end up on a reserve list I’ll have to live with it.
If we want a broad range of cars - then fine. However this is our chance to show the rest of the jap enthusiasts that GTO’s are quick in standard guise … and desipte the [bad] press can be made into heavy duty track weapons.
Can we set a deadline of (say) Thursday for applications and then the committe decide on who’s representing us - with perhaps one or two reserves ?
If it’s left to us to decide amoungst ourselves within this thread who goes and who doesnt then nothing will be decided … and it may turn into a bicking contest … which Im sure no-one wants.
Adam
Sounds like a plan Adam.
Another thing to remember, is that the cars will be featured in a 14 page photo shoot. We need to make sure the cars are in decent nick, so GTOs don’t look scruffy and/or cheap to potential buyers .
